A few TV notes:
1. I watched the Ringer pilot last night and quite enjoyed it. Didn't have high expectations, and considering how the pilot had to do a lot of heavy lifting for the concept, I thought it was decent. Ioan gets to have his accent, which is really enough for me! And I do love Smidge. Since Jason Dohring is going to be recurring as the stepdaughter's teacher, this is definitely staying on my watch list, at least for now.
2. I watched the first ten minutes or so of Glee last night. It seems my tolerance for Ryan Murphy's storytelling bullshit has dipped precipitously low. I was so annoyed by just about everything! A sampling below the cut.
a) "Oh no, we need another member for glee!" Zzzzzzzzzzzzz. Yes, you need one every fucking season, and you always get one. Blah, blah, everyone at the school hates them. OH MY GOD, ENOUGH. I FFed through to the "We Got the Beat" number, which ended largely the way the "New York" (I'm drawing a blank on the proper title of that song) number ended last season, just with added foodstuffs tossed.
b) Brittany and Santana are cheerleaders again. I can't even describe how much I hate that they have to wear those uniforms 24/7. Hate.
c) As fucking IF Rachel Berry and Kurt Hummel (but especially Rachel) don't know exactly which programs Julliard offers. :|
I'll give this ep another go, but if the first ten minutes were any indication, I might start just watching the musical numbers if this is the kind of crap they're serving up this season. I've always been able to handwave a lot with this show, but....
