This week's blog post at keiraandrews.com is about an author who replied to criticism of her book in an amazingly ill-advised manner last week. Is it ever a good idea for authors to respond to criticism? And should reviewers mention poor grammar and typos? (I say no and yes, respectively.) Let me know what you think ( Read more... )

Ha! I was thinking the same thing about the Russians. I mean, come on. Don't they realize there are plenty of us who are basically just here for the porn?

Not to mention the fact that a service many of us pay for worldwide is being disrupted because of one country's politics. We can't keep having DDoS attacks every week. Hello, we have gay soap opera characters to talk about over here! Priorities!!

Yes, that is true. Some people pay for LJ, don't they? < / cheap >

I love LJ and I don't want to leave it, but it's also been annoyingly patchy for a long time. The joys of the internet and the global...world.

Yep, many of us pay. And I love LJ. Every so often people talk about moving to Dreamwidth or Journalfen or wherever, but LJ is home and I don't want to go. So back off, Kremlin!

Apparently the reason LJ keeps being targeted by DDoS attacks the last week or so is because some Russian dissidents are posting anti-government stuff on their LJs, and the Kremlin is attacking LJ servers as a result.

Obviously this is conjecture, so who knows. But something's certainly up. In the immortal words of Boney M, "Oh, those Russians." ;)

Ahhhhhhh finally I see. Everyone's been all "LJ GRRRRR" for days now, and I've not been affected so I therefore am oblivious. But today it wouldn't load for ages and ages and I was like Is THIS what everyone's been grumbling about? If so then grrrrr. I didn't realize the Russians were taking to LiveJournal (LOLwut?!) to complain about their government... there are so many political and Russian jokes to be found in that one sentence, but I'll refrain. Good lord, though. Welcome to the year 2003!

Huh, really? I hadn't heard it might be the Russian government. I just assumed it was a bunch of bored asshole hackers. I can just imagine some poor group of Russian computer geeks who joined intel for a decent stable job shaking their heads at being ordered to attack LJ, lol.

Yeah, apparently it's the Kremlin using a rocket launcher to stomp on a few ants.

Hee! With Putin as a leader, I can only imagine the crazy shit they have to do over there. ;)
