First off, since Monday, the media has been frothing at the mouth about the huge snowstorm coming last night. When I woke up this morning and looked outside, I was unimpressed. We've had way more snow in the past, people. Growing up in the east end of Toronto (aka Scarborough for you locals), I never once in my entire childhood had a snow day. Yet the Toronto school board is actually closed today due to the ridiculous hysteria. Schools and colleges and other organizations were closing yesterday before a flake of snow had even fallen.
Sometimes the culture of fear that the media pushes on us gets really, really tiresome. Sure, the roads won't be fun to drive on today, but we had more snow out of nowhere a few weeks ago. Well, it came out of a weather system, I'm sure, but there was no advance freaking out.
