So, yesterday afternoon the universe thought it would be fun to give me a migraine. It's so weird how I'm fine one minute, and the next I'm blinking at my computer screen because I can't see straight and the words are moving. I'm one of the 15% of people who get auras before migraines. For me it's like a white/clear prism. It starts as a cresent moon in my left eye, and then it gradually gets bigger before it takes over my whole field of vision. Then it recedes, and the headache hits like a ton of bricks.

Normally, I would have just gone home, taken drugs and curled up in the dark. However, yesterday was not a normal day. Yesterday was Harry Potter day. The day I'd been looking forward to for quite some time. As soon as I recognized the aura, I took two four six Advil and went home to lie down for an hour or so. Taking the drugs quickly did help to avoid the debilitating pain, at least. I had bought the tickets for me and my friends, and there was no way I was missing this movie, so I popped a couple of Tylenol and headed out.

Despite the throbbing in my head, I still loved the movie. It was just beautifully shot and acted and I can't wait to see it again.

I don't even know where to begin and this is going to be disjointed. Beautiful cinematography and I loved the whole look of the movie. So sophisticated and mature and just gorgeous. I'm so glad David Yates is doing DH, since I have complete confidence in him.

There were a few moments where the humour felt forced (the trio laughing about Dumbledore's age springs to mind), but overall there were quite a lot of laughs. The girl playing Lavender really stole her scenes and it must have been so fun to play! Rupert Grint also killed me when Ron was under the love potion. Emma Watson has finally stopped acting with her eyebrows and was so much stronger than she's been. I've always liked her, but at times her line deliveries in the past have made me cringe. I really liked her here, though. Great scene on the stairs with Harry. I love the Harry/Hermione friendship, so, so much. As much as Harry loves and needs Ron, Hermione is truly his best friend. They just connect on a different level.

Dan was fantastic, and he's grown so much as an actor. I just adore him so much. But most of all in this movie I was thrilled that Tom Felton finally got a chance to shine after having nothing more to do in the last two movies than sneer a few times in the background and deliver a couple of insults. This was very much my Draco and he showed such vulnerability and conflicted emotion. Draco is a character I was always drawn to because, as bliss_ so aptly put it, he's the Logan Echolls of Hogwarts. *g* (YMMV, of course.) I was disappointed Jo didn't redeem him more than she did in the books, but that's why we have fanfic, I suppose. I loved all the shots of Draco staring off while the rest of the kids around him were laughing and having fun, or making out in the halls, etc. So many effective juxtaposition shots.

Draco's face when he sees the Great Hall getting trashed was perfect. For the bathroom scene, I wanted more blood, but they wanted that PG rating, so. One of my complaints is that they took out the fact that Draco was confiding to Moaning Myrtle. I always loved that Draco had confided in a Mudblood ghost.

The other change I really didn't like was Harry not being frozen in place watching Dumbledore die. That was always so profoundly sad to me that he was right there and couldn't do anything. I know we wouldn't be able to see his reactions, which is why I assume the change was made, but it wasn't as effective. I know Harry was following Dumbledore's request to do as he said and it showed his trust in him, but I would have preferred it the other way. I cried when Dumbledore died, but not as much as I thought I would. I think it's because everyone was so stoic. Cedric Diggory's father makes me weep in Goblet every.single.time. The wands in the air was so sad and lovely, though.

Let's see, what else. Really enjoyed the Ginny/Harry, especially when Harry pushed Ginny behind him in the swamp. And she ran through fire to go after him in the first place! Awesome. Seeing the Burrow burn was so heartbreaking. Molly's face! Julie Walters is so good.

I'm sure I have more to say, but I should get back to work. In short (too late for that!), I loved this movie. The end.
