I saw Matt Doyle's very last (barring any future thrilling heroics) show as Melchior Gabor today. Both he and Blake Bashoff were on fire and gave really fantastic performances. The whole cast was wonderful, but it was the Matt 'n' Blake show for me.
Matt always rocks out in his chair during several of the songs, and today I thought he might bounce right out of it. He was clearly having fun and savoring every moment. It was also a very emotional performance. I haven't cried in "Left Behind" since the first time I saw the show on Broadway (multiple viewings ago), but I cried today. I've never seen Matt give a bad performance, but this one was really terrific and memorable. He just hit everything out of the park. I cannot textually render (tm
fenwic) how sweet, adorable and very talented that boy is. I feel so lucky that he came to Toronto. Thank you, universe. And ABC for casting Kyle Riabko in your new Fame knock-off homage, which I am really looking forward to.
Speaking of Spring Awakening, I'm totally in love with this lost song from the workshop when they were writing the show. This is the tour boys singing "A Comet On Its Way":

I ripped it to an
MP3 and I have the chorus ("Christ, such a whole, like, deal") stuck in my head. Best masturbation song since "My Junk." *g*
