The Good Shepherd

Recently watching the Movie the Good Shepherd I was reminded of my grandmother pictured here. She worked for the Canadian Secret Service as a code breaker. For security reasons she never ever spoke about her work so we really had no idea except she used to go into the office when called upon and that could happen at anytime and it did happen from time to time even after she retired.

When I was little, she used to teach me about codes and how to break them. I don't think I was ever really very good at it but she and I used to write notes back and forth in code. I was so intrigued by this I used to write in code with one of my friends from school.

The thing I remember most about my grandmother is she was a fabulous baker and made the best cookies. Her gingerbread houses while a fiasco for the family to assist with were top-notch.

Miss you grandma and thinking fondly of you.

Bruce

P.S. My grandmother's name was Clarinda Etheline Weese (née Simpson) she went by the name Etheline.
