Old books

My love of old sci-fi/fantasy paperbacks is well-known. I'm a total sucker for these attic-scented gems of the 1960s and 1970s (and 1980s, too), the days when great (and often not so great) authors pounded out so many books every year that they resorted to using pseudonyms for a lot of work. With pay rates so low (1-cent per word for much of the 60s and 70s), they had to be prolific (and often ridiculously so) in order to make any money.

I discovered a credit slip in my wallet for a local used bookstore and trudged down there with some stuff I wanted to shed, and wound up walking out with an even spread, my credit eaten up by the great stuff I found, including a few more paperbacks by one of my all-time favorite authors, Robert Silverberg. The older Star Trek books are also a particular obsession. My brother had a complete set of the James Blish Star Trek books at one time.

Listy:

The Squares of the City by John Brunner (1965)
The Second Trip by Robert Silverberg (1972, this edition is 1981)
Earth's Other Shadow by Robert Silverberg (1973)
The Man in the Maze by Robert Silverberg (1969, though this edition is from after Lord Valentine's Castle was published)
One King's Way by Harry Harrison (1995)
Planet of the Damned by Harry Harrison (1962)
Pursuit on Ganymede by Michael D. Resnick (1968)
Redbeard by Michael D. Resnick (1969)
Future Imperfect by James Gunn (1964)
A Secret Atlas by Michael Stackpole (2005)
Planet of Judgment by Joe Haldeman (1977 - Star Trek)
Star Trek 2 by James Blish (1968 - Star Trek)
Star Trek 3 by James Blish (1969 - Star Trek)
The Startless World by Gordon Eklund (1978, thought his edition is 1984 - Star Trek)
The Defiant Agents by Andre Norton (1962)
The Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury (1951, though this edition is a late 80s one, I think)
The Stars Will Judge by Irving A. Greenfield (1974)
