Big Bang Rules

May 02, 2010 18:51

The Nitro Big Bang is an event aimed at generating long fanfics set in the universes or using the characters created by Kazuya Minekura, with accompanying art, videos, or mixes.

Authors and artists for any pairing or ship can participate - as long as the central characters or world are those created by Minekura-sensei.

PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS

AUTHORS

If you’re an author, your fanfiction must meet the following criteria in order to qualify for accompanying art:

1. The fanfiction must be an original work that has not been posted anywhere else - either in full or as a WIP.
2. The fanfiction must be at least 15,000 words long. That’s 15,000 words NOT INCLUDING the words in the header information, the summary, authors’ notes and so on.
3. There is no maximum word count, but the fic must be complete, including beginning, middle, end and plot.
4. AUs, fusions, and crossovers are allowed, but a crossover must have at least one Minekura character at the heart of the story.
5. A complete draft of the fanfiction must be submitted to the moderators by 12 MIDNIGHT SEPTEMBER 15, 2010. If you fail to meet this deadline, your fanfiction will not qualify for accompanying fanwork. A complete, beta-d final of the fanfiction must be submitted to the moderators by 12 MIDNIGHT GMT OCTOBER 15 2010. At the discretion of the mods, it may still be included in the archive, and/or linked in the masterlist.
6. Complete fanart/vids/mixes must be submitted by NOVEMBER 8 2010.
7. All fanfictions remain exclusive to the Big Bang Nitro Archive until 12 MIDNIGHT GMT, NOVEMBER 15 2010. This means that you cannot repost your submission to your own website, LJ, or anywhere else until after November 15 2010.

ARTISTS / VIDDERS / MIXERS

1. All fanart / vids/ mixes must be original works that have not been posted elsewhere, in whole or in part.

2. All work is due at 12 MIDNIGHT GMT NOVEMBER 8 2010.

MIXERS

Mixes should have a minimum of 10 songs and a maximum of about 15- about the size of a conventional CD. Please upload the mix to your personal hosting space, or a hosting site such as Megaupload or Mediafire. You can upload your mix as a zip or as individual songs.

ARTISTS

Art can be in any medium. Please include a rating with your art, and any warnings if applicable (for both content and spoilers).

When you send in your art, please format the subject line of the e-mail this way: your username - fic title - art. For example: Homura - “The Left Foot of Darkness” - art

VIDDERS

Videos should be a reasonable length- anywhere from three to eight minutes.

When you send in your vid or link, please format the subject line of the e-mail this way: your username - fic title - vid. For example: Homura - “The Left Foot of Darkness” - vid

TIMELINE

May 3 - KICKOFF DAY!

This is when the challenge officially kicks off. We’ll open up the author, artist and beta sign-up posts so that people can start to comment.

At this stage, we’re looking for expressions of interest. No formal sign-ups, so no commitment. But we’re having this so that we can get an idea of how many people are likely to participate, and the balance of pairings across authors and artists.

SEPTEMBER 1 - INFORMAL SIGN-UPS CLOSE, MIDNIGHT GMT

Just as the header says, on September 1, we’ll close down comments on the author and artist sign-up posts. You can ABSOLUTELY participate even if you haven’t responded to the initial sign-up posts, and there’s no pressure to commit to a particular pairing or plot at this stage.

SEPTEMBER 15 - ART SIGN-UPS OPEN, FIRST DRAFTS DUE

For authors, this is when we’d like you to send us a complete draft of your fanfiction. In addition, we’d like a short summary of your story, including fandom and plot.

For artists/vidders/mixers, this when we’d like you to tell us which fandoms and characters you’re willing to portray in fanart, vid, or mix for. This is so that we can send you synopses of the fanfics that match, from which you tell us (in order of preference) which you’d like to create fanwork for.

OCTOBER 1 - DROP DEAD DATE FOR ARTISTS AND WRITERS

For authors, if you do not formally sign up by this date (including providing a complete draft of your fanfiction), your fanfiction will not qualify for accompanying art, and may not be included in the archive. The draft does not need to be complete, but there should be enough substance to it for an artist/mixer/vidder to work with-and for us (and you!) to be confident you can finish it by the due date.

For artists, if you do not formally sign up by this date, you may be able to participate as a pinch hitter, once the initial assignments have been sent out.

October 4 - ASSIGNMENTS SENT OUT TO ARTISTS

For artists, at this stage, you will receive confirmation of the fic you’ve been matched with.

October 15 - ALL FANFICTION DUE AT MIDNIGHT

For authors, this is when you email us your completed, betaed fanfiction, and bask in a job well done!

November 8 - ALL ART AND VIDS DUE AT MIDNIGHT

Artists/vidders/mixers- this is when you email us your completed work and bask in a job well done!

November 8 - POSTING BEGINS

And this is when you get to enjoy everyone’s hard work!

mod post!
