I sit here trying to decide what I should write on my first post on LJ. I have nothing really profound to say.
I guess I could talk about myself. Although, I don't find myself all that interesting.
Let's see. I am a married 32 year old with 4 kids. Yes, I said 4. I don't work outside the home, but let me tell you, I work. Frankly, I don't know how ladies that work outside the home do it. I find them amazing. I wouldn't be able to handle it. As it stands now, I take care of the house, children, hubby, watch an extra kid during the week, and I homeschool. Crazy, I know. Some days are insane, but most of the time I enjoy it.
I went to college to become a teacher, and I taught for 2 years before kid 1 came along. I loved teaching so when it came time for my first kid to go to school, I thought, why not teach my own. Especially since the schools around here aren't that great and private school costs too much. Now, I know there are misconceptions of homeschool families out there. One being that homeschooled kids are not social. Ha! My kids will walk up to complete strangers, and carry on conversations with them. My son gets ten kids he doesn't know together at the park to play a game he made up. We are involved in several groups, and go on field trips quite often. So for us that is not true in the least. Sorry, I got off on a tangent.
Anyway, I have found that because of the constant presence of my beloved children, I need an escape. One of my escapes is reading. I love to read, but I have to pace myself. I devour books. I love the classics like Jane Austen, and I also enjoyed reading Harry Potter. If a book is too intense, I have to read the ending first to be able to enjoy the book. I am strange like that.
Another escape is Gilmore Girls. I can watch it a gazillion times, and I still find references I catch. My obsession with GG has lead me into the fanfic world. I love reading it, and recently have enjoyed writing some. I am learning so much through writing. I have an excellent beta that helps so much! I have learned a lot from her!
Maybe I should describe what I look like. I am a 5' 7" brunette. Unlike Lorelai, I eat right. I am anal about what foods my family consumes. There are so many health issues in my family. I decided that I need to fight genetics with being healthy. I am also very active. With four kids, how could I not be?
