Yard Sale Saturdays! (Week Four)

Jun 04, 2005 16:32

There were a lot of yard sales to cover this week. Nothing too exciting, though.

I used to pore through people's videos and buy anything that looked interesting. However, I haven't been doing that so much this year. For one thing, people are getting more and more expensive. I'll barely pay $2 for a tape, let alone $3-5. I can also get nearly everything they're selling on DVD, in glorious widescreen and with a longer durability. I'm trying to cut back, too, as I have hundreds of movies I've picked up from video store closeouts, other yard sales, the store in Seabrook, etcetra that I have to watch. I don't need any more!!!

One person did have movies at what looked to be affordable prices, but there were a bunch of other people poring over the box and helping themselves. Damn vultures! I didn't bother going through the box.

I did get a lot of blanks today, though. As I've probably written here before, a lot of people sell their blank tapes and I EAGERLY snatch them up. I usually like to go through them and try to find '80s commercials. I've went through a few tapes, and by god, people have boring stuff. Documentaries from PBS...movies copied from other videos...shows with commercials EDITED OUT!!! (How dare they!) I found one tape that had a few commercials from around 1989 (one was a Pepsi ad starring the great Michael J. Fox), but that's about it. Still, I have plenty more to go through, so we'll see...

I should note that I've found plenty of interesting tapes at other yard sales in years past. My prized pick was an original airing of one of the Ewok movies from 1984, complete with commercials from the time. I've also found people's home movies; I mean, how in the fuck can they let those be sold?! (I recently found one in the Salem, NH Goodwill.)

The only other thing I bought was a DVD of the cartoon version of Return of the King. I don't know why, as I haven't even watched the Rankin-BASS LOTR yet. I also had another enjoyable egg sandwhich/hash brown combo for breakfast. And I heard the new Gwen Stefani song twice on the radio! Yay! I ain't no hollaback girl!

Anyway, I'm off for today. There'll most likely be an update sometime in the next few days. Don't get too fat!

This is the Slickster talking at ya, honey!
