Swinburne Orientation, Day 1.
Well, I got lost trying to get to the station, the ticket machine was busted and so I had to get on the delayed train without a ticket.
Got to the class by 10 and was early, and so had time to read over the papers they gave us. When everyone got there (well almost everyone) the head of the BIT course gave us a run-down of what was on the sheets in front of us. We then had to get into alphabetical order of our last name, then our first. We are split into 5 groups of 8 and had to interview one of those members and introduce the them to everyone.
We next spent 3 hours doing a "Sagacity" hunt of Hawthorn, looking all over the place for the answers to questions that would help us while going to uni there. Our 3rd year mentor skipped out on us as soon as we were out of sight of the Uni staff and so we were left to fend for our selves. We had allot of fun, and the 3 hours included our lunch break. Most unfair thing, was that the Library staff had all the answers and were just giving them to any group that asked about a certain Question - even the 50 and 60 point ones. what a waste of effort.
After going over some of the results, we then had a 100 question Trivia game in our groups. I was able to answer a couple in the literature and Mythological sections, wasn't much help else where. the guy running this took his sweet time and so we ran over time. Ohhh and our group won the trivia game and got chocolate for doing so.
Our last thing at uni was to be told about our Dinners that we have 4 times a year, and each group of first years gets to organise one of these. One of the really good things about the first Dinner, is that the Graduates from last year are joining us! This means I will get to meet Matrix! (For those of you who don't know, I met Matrix via Toria who I met in Uru - online Myst Computer Game if you are still lost) Will be the first Online Gamer I will have met, after meeting in the game! :)
Anyway, After Uni I took Sonia (Dragon) out to a restaurant at the Crown Casino. Won't bore you with all the details, but in all, we had a good night.
Well it's late, and I start at 10 again so I'll be off.
