My computer has decided that now it wants to act wonky. The ac adapter is broken, the battery is shot, and it likes to shut off with no warning. All of this is leading me to believe that after 4 years and my tough love, that Compy is giving up the ghost. However, I don't want to lose my loverly bookmarks, so prepare yourselves for a series of dumps. This first one is from my unsorted bookmarks and from my "Things I Love" section of things I meant to post in TILTs. Corset shops, pastry recipes, music, gardening books I want and a few nerdy things ensue.
  • Corset Heaven - A corset shop in the UK selling Vollers, Axfords and their own person brand. I'd say their mid-priced. Not quite as cheap as Timeless Trends but, not as expensive as some custom corset makers.
  • FF:VII - Crisis Core Screenshot Gallery - I really liked this game. I think when I bookmarked this I had been entertaining the idea of making icons or something.
  • Blah to Tada - A site on upcycling. Some of the projects are awesome and others not so much.
  • Black Plants: 75 Striking Choices for the Garden - For the past few years I've wanted to start a garden and have been accumulating books on the topic like some people do shoes. It's tapered off in the past year (too busy to even think about plants) but there is a part of me that would love to own some black plants.
  • Terrible Yellow Eyes - This blog was created leading up to the movie "Where the Wild Things Are" and is a collection of art inspired by the classic book. It wasn't one of my favorites growing up (I was more of a Goodnight Moon and Kathy and the Big Snow kind of gal) but someone else might enjoy it. Continuing on this book theme...
  • Labyrinth: the Novelization - The novel version of the movie in it's entirety. I used to have a WordPad copy of this, but alas I lost it when Compy crashed the first time. If you have some time to kill this summer, check it out. There are some differences between this version and the movie which I actually like. One last reading link.
  • Digital Schomburg Database of African American Women Writers of the 19th Century - Haven't had a chance to sit down and sift through this, but the history nerd in me couldn't resist bookmarking it.
  • Homemade Pop-Tarts - I'm currently in day 3 of my annual post-school detox so I can't have these, but how I long for one. I can see myself playing around with these trying to recreate favorites (marshmallow fluff + fudge sauce + more of a grahman cracker crust = smores?) and making ones that Pop-Tarts brand doesn't make (blackberry, boysenberry, peach, nutella, dulce de leche, grape...*drools*)
  • And a cooking tip that I want to try from one of my links (I didn't really think it was linkable enough) - If you want to make something you are baking tea flavored, you just add leaves to the standard recipe. If it's something custard based like creme brulee, just steep the tea in the the milk/cream as you heat it.
And now for some music:
  • Ghost Bees - From Canada. I've been meaning to pick up their first album. It would be the perfect Mori Girl soundtrack (maybe straying into Antique style).
  • Rasputina - I Go To Sleep - One of my favorite bands covering one of my favorite songs.

Well, that's all for now. Mommo's about to come in the house and yell at me for being on the computer so I better split.
