The next time I spend infinity million dollars on new computer parts, I should think things through first! When you switch out your motherboard, Windows XP explodes, and you have to do a repair install so that it can figure out what's going on. Easy enough, just boot off the cd, select the drive and press 'r'. Except that I have a SATA hard drive, and the XP installation cd doesn't have drivers to read the drive. So I just have to put in the driver disk that came with the hard drive. Except I gave my floppy drive to Joel, because I thought I'd never have to use it again. CRAP.
I looked into slipstreaming the drivers onto the install cd, which means that you burn a new cd, and include the drivers on it. The problem with that is you have to change a bunch of settings in the configuration files of the installation cd itself, so that it knows to look for the drivers. This, of course, is maybe the most complicated and error-prone thing I can even think of.
So I guess I'm going to borrow Keith's floppy drive tomorrow. Or maybe go to REPC and get one for like 5 bucks. Or maybe un-gift my floppy drive to Joel.
Speaking of which: Joel, did you even use any of that garbage I gave you? I seem to recall something about you getting a mac.
