A lot of times things just fall into place ...

Last week I was throwing some newspapers out when I ran across an article entitled A model's body of work.

The article's about an art show in the tiny town of Crockett by the Carquinez Bridge featuring a long time Bay Area Models Guild model.
I guess I didn't read the article as good as I thought. One day she was going to be posing for an invited group of artists. I thought that was taking place last Sunday.

I've drawn her many times through the years. The first time may have been as long or longer than 20 years ago.
Anyway, since I was drawing at the Farmers' Market in Pinole on saturday and had 5 hours between gigs I thought I'd check out the show. Imagine my surprise when I called for directions and it was Stephanie the model who answered the phone. "Are you going to come down and watch them draw me?" I didn't think it was that day.

I went to the gallery and after the first session asked if I could also set up my easel.
There were about 10 artists drawing in a well lit comfortable space. It was fun. Here's some of my drawings from Saturday:

These 3 drawings were done in the span of a 10 minute pose.

I ended up folding my paper in half to force myself to fit the pose in the space.

This drawing of her is one of my all time favorite drawings of any figure model.

It's always fun when things just happen.
