Was watching "Wishing Stairs" for the third time and it never fails to intrigue me. Supposedly a horror flick, but really, there's more to it than meets the eye.
It touches on the theme of friendship and jealousy; seriously, jealousy can be such a scary emotion and scorn from women, even scarier.
The story talks about two good friends who had the passion for ballet, but one was a born talent with better background (mum forced her to pick up ballet at a very young age) whilst the other had to work hard for it. Naturally, in every society, meritocracy counts and it doesn't matter how hard you worked for it; well it does, but it has to show in your results. Needless to say, friend-who-worked-very-hard-but-not-as-talented turned her back on her friend during a competition and started hating her. Honestly, I don't know how to justify that hatred because, she did not really harm anyone in the process and there's no real good reason to be jealous since she is really talented, right?
But whatever it is, the point I am driving at is really, just be contented with what you have. Oh yeah I shouldn't really use the word "contented" maybe "grateful" would have been better. There is always a need to challenge and improve ourselves, but competition, hatred, jealousy etc. etc. shouldn't be the driving force to improve because it's really unhealthy. The only person that you should be challenging is really yourself.
Make life easier and less complicated!
