(no subject)
So I'm in Peru right now.....
I just had the longest 24 hours of my LIFE.
I freaked out when I first got to the airport. Mike was leaving for NYC the same time I was leaving, so we got to see each other before we left which was cute. We flew out of Charlotte and into Miami, that was my first flight ever. It was on a small airplane and it was pretty sweet I thought. It took an hour and a half. Then we arrived in Miami, I was already exhausted, we boarded the big plane for Lima, Peru at 10 PM, we were supposed to take off at 11, but we got delayed 2 freakin hours. So finally we take off, we eat dinner on the plane at 2 in the morning (which was kind of good actually...). Seeing as how the flight was 6 hours long, we were supposed to get some sleep so we could rest for this morning's bus ride, but NO, I didnt fall asleep. I'm so exhausted. Well we arrived in Lima at around 5:45 AM, which was a lot sooner than we all thought it would be. So then we board this huuuuuuuuuuuge bus (2 stories) that took us here to the compound in Chimbote. Okay apparently all the driving laws in Peru exist but its okay to not follow them, because we didnt, at all. Our driver was NUTS, we really thought we were going to crash. The bus ride took another 6 hours with the exception of "breakfast" (which was sweet potatoes and pork on a bun.. mmm.) I got to play on a seesaw today. Um, this place I'm staying is the coolest ever though. The sounds and the smells and the feel and the breeze of Peru is just unbelievable. I'm actually here. We arrived this afternoon around 2 or 3 (no one here wears watches). My favorite part of the day was when I got to play soccer with all the Peruvian kids, boys and girls, it was SO much fun. I hope we play again tomorrow. I miss when I used to play soccer as a kid. For dinner we had spagetti that was very, very spicy. I cant drink the water here because I'll get sick, so I have to drink strictly bottled water, and I have to brush my teeth with bottled water (as does the rest of the crew I'm with). I know this whole entry was kind of random, but honestly, I had to share. Darcy is to the left of me and we are in the biblioteca (library) typin our fingers off. Hooray! I'll probably update more later.....
