Well, YEAH. How are you supposed to have a decent conversation without it? I mean, really? The last time I fucked something like this up was with Freaks and Geeks. You gotta get ahead of the curve, baby.
Truly though, all popcultural pomo irony aside, it really is superb. Through and through.
ETA: Are you suggesting perhaps that I'm...white? Damn.
That link was hysterical. The entry about football had me giggling like a loon. I've had convos like that.
"So, what do you think of the Violas chances this weekend.? Been a long tme since they've been in with any chance of a win. Be good to see them back up in Serie A."
I know, I was laughing hysterically. I know, I LOVE to watch soccer, but there's only one reason: the guys are hot and you can SEE them. I'm so goddamn shallow.
I'm actually in the midst of season 1 and from the very first episode, that funny, heart breaking scene about the dead kid "snotboogie" I knew here was something amazing.
The show makes no concessions to anything, so a lot of the street lingo is hard for me to follow. And the show is depressing because it makes it clear there are no solutions and if anyone gets out, it's a miracle.
Oh, half the time I have no idea what's going on. It was the same way with Deadwood. I think I must like being confused. You have season 4 to look forward to, as well. SUBLIME. *sigh*
What's the etiquette for consoling a friend on the pre-planned death of a still beloved favorite series? I know what to do for abrupt cancellations, season cliffhangers left hanging, and even the lingering pain of a series that should have died years previous, but this is a new one for me.
wow, both scenes are fantastic. I wish I had the time to watch more stuff but I don't, so I have to pick and chose. that's where good reccs like this come in, so thanks! maybe one day!
It's AMAZING, really it is. It's not the usual fare, probably, for people who tend to like more SF type stuff. I live with a criminologist -- we watch far too much gritty programming. But everything else pales. *sniff* I'm really sad that it's over.
