the finger poking needles really aren't that bad. you don't see them, and in a moment the worst is over. i'm terrerfied of needles, and after a few times. you hardly notice it.
they will prolly tell you no cereals are okay to eat. it made me sad! but OATMEAL! sunny boy, and cream of wheat are okay. just cut out as much sugar you put on them as possible.
and as a happy note, even though i had GD i ended up with a normal weight baby. she was only 7 lbs! not the 8-10 lbs we were expecting! so you can do it!
I'm going to take your word for now about the finger poking needles... I just don't know. I give my cat insulin every day and have poked myself once or twice by accident and those aren't so bad but when I've given blood and they do the poke for the iron test... that freakin' hurts. Might just have to recruit other people to do it to me. :-P (Yes, I know what a baby I sound like... but up until a couple of years ago, I had a panic attack at the thought of *any* needle so... this is going to be tough!)
it is tough! and lemmie tell you! i panic attacked myself several the first several times.. but remember this, your doing it for your baby and your baby's health. that is far more important!
you'll thank yourself when your wee one comes out fine. i did! they will tell you where to poke on your fingers, just remember not to over poke one finger. it hurts and build up a calous! haha.. i did it. oops.
If ya need more words of encouragement, i'm here for ya! you can do it!
I've just felt a lot of emotions over the past couple of days... Even though it wasn't completely unexpected, it was still a shock and having so much time between them dumping the news on me by phone (with no real instructions on what to do between now and then) and when I'll actually get to talk to someone isn't helping! I want to do right for my baby but right now I am not sure what right is! Ugh. I'm sure I'll feel a lot better after my appointment on Monday.
i know those emotions well! mine was out of the blue.
they will tell you everything you need to know. like stick to the food guide and such, so take a deep breathe, sit down and relax. and if you feel like crying, cry, it's okay.
Yes, I've suddenly become quite good at crying! Haven't had any emotional craziness this whole time but the last couple days have definitely seen waterworks.
