So the first rain storm (or storm of any type) since I've gotten here occurred last night. So instead of going on the usual pub crawl, I was stuck inside. I watched the Sevilla-Celta soccer game, then I got to working on this little nugget of gold...
I actually started this awhile ago, but I somewhat completed it last night. WHICH SONGS HAVE THE BEST OPENING LINES? (that is, of course, discluding songs that start with the chorus. I'm talking about opening line). These are 10 that I came up with, in no particular order:
1. "Well I thought about the army. Dad said 'Son you're fucking high.'"
-Ben Folds, "Army"
2. "What have I done wrong that I should be sorry?"
-The Slackers, "Wasted Days"
3. "Your butt is mine."
-Michael Jackson, "Bad"
4. "I got permission to put your momma in a headlock."
-Ludacris, "Block Lock Down"
5. "Show me, show me, show me how you do that trick."
-The Cure, "Just Like Heaven"
6. "Finally someone let me outta my cage."
-Gorrilaz, "Clint Eastwood"
7. "The waiting drove me mad. You're finally here and I'm a mess."
-Pearl Jam, "Corduroy"
8. "Think about it, if you was there standin lookin at me, what would you do if I hit ya in the face with dog doo-doo?"
-Kool Keith, "I'm Destructive"
9. "I stay up all night, I go to sleep watchin Dragnet. I never sleep alone because my Jimmy is the magnet."
-Beastie Boys, "3-Minute Rule"
10. "Goddamn you half Japanese girls. You do it to me everytime."
-Weezer, "El Scorcho"
Of course, as you all know, my music vision is tunnel at best, maybe even legally blind. So add to my list!!! What are the best opening to lines to a song?
Lemme know kiddies.
