This is weekend update with Daniel Kirby. So, lets see. Friday. An excellent day. Woke up at 8 45 and somehow made it to my history discussion session by 9. I seem to remember really loving my Astronomy lecture. I think we talked about black holes for about 30 of the 50 minutes, good shit. In case you don't know, a black hole is a dead star that is infinitely small and has the mass of three suns or more (most of the time more). Because it is infinitely small, other objects can get infinitely close to it, which means it exerts insane amounts of gravitation force on nearby matter. So much force, that even light cannot escape the gravitational effects. Which means it reflects no light, thus the name "black hole". Supposedly anything entering a black hole's "event horizon" (the radius at which the gravity is strong enough to hold light in) goes out of "existence" in this universe. I won't bore you any further with the quantum mechanical details on that, but hey its interesting to me and this is my journal. You can leave if you want. We're just jamming. So after that....comedy corner. It was quite good actually. Some funny sketches; including "Loose Cannon Obannon". Physics was physics....yea. After physics i slept for a good 6 hours. Mostly due to the fact I had slept a total of 5 hours in the prior two days. So i felt quite refreshed after my six hour nap. After I awakened, I found myself playing Halo for the first time in a good while. It was a network game, so that made it cooler. Our team (Team 138) pwn3d....for real. Then James, Erik (with a k), and I went to IHOP. Good shit, hadn't been there in a long while. Strawberry pancakes are delicious. So I came back, read "Life of Pi" and went to sleep about 4ish.
Saturday, also good. I woke up at 3, which is normal for saturday. Shower, food, and Blockbuster. I rented "L.A. Confidential" and "Trainspotting". Then, I went running. Yes, two miles at a quicker pace. Fun times. I got majorly rained on upon returning from the gym. My shoes are soaked. Fuck, i need to do laundry. Anyway, got back, and movie night began. James came over and Alan, James and I proceeded to watch three movies, and eat pizza. First was "Donnie Darko" the directors cut, which I obtained earlier this week. That movie is was totally sweet. I want to watch it about 1000 more times. Then came "L.A. Confidential" which was good, but maybe seemed worse compared to Donnie Darko. It was a mystery, quite a few twist and turns you don't expect, but it runs slow in the beginning. Still quite good overall though. Then, lastly, came "Trainspotting". It kind of had a "British Fight Club" vibe to it, according to James. I can see that, but there's much more drug use in trainspotting. It was funny in some parts and the main character's fake progression is really interesting. It was hard to understand at some parts because of thick accents, but there was a dead baby crawling on the ceiling in one scene, so what more could you want? I'll rate the movies as follows:
Donnie Darko Director's Cut: 10/10
L.A. Confidential: 7/10
Trainspotting: 8/10
Yea so after those were over, here I am now updating my journal. Saturday Night!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm such a loser. It's awesome.
Well i should go now because i plan on waking up in about six hours to watch the Daytona 500. Fuck you, NASCAR rules. DJ is on the pole and he'll take the race.
I'll leave you with a haiku, since i have to justify this update with something personal and artsy to be a true livejournal user (although i didn't really bitch about anything)
