So I know I'm a complete asshole, but today at work, about 11:30 they called an "immediate emergency meeting" which is never good, I totally thought they were getting rid of my department or something drastic, but here was the news...
This guy, whom I barely know, and has nothing to do with my department really, just found out he and his wife was pregnant about 4 weeks ago. I guess they had a doctors appointment today and she lost the baby. That was the meeting. WTF? First of all, she was about a month along, so it's not like this is uncommon. Second of all, he should have waited to tell people she was knocked up until she was past her first trimester, just to be on the safe side. They have been trying to have a kid for about 5 years, and while this is sad, I do not feel they should have pulled us away from work for it. They are even going to chip in and buy them a gift. WHAT?? A miscarriage gift?!? What would you even buy someone? And the parents are having a memorial. For a month old fetus. I just don't get it. The guy is taking three week off work for it. And the second it was announced, all the women started bawling. It was just an awkward moment, he called from the doctors office and wanted to have an announcement made. He also sent out an email to the department when they first found out stating where they were registered for baby things. Tool.
Yes, I know I'm callous about most things, but come on....give me a break.
