Hey everybody,
I am in San Angelo, TX at Goodfellow Air Force Base. I'm supposed to be here going to my tech school where i'll get trained for my job but i can't start classes until my top secret security clearance comes through. I've been here since July 5th, graduated from basic training on July 2nd, in San Antonio. Before i got here i thought i'd be able to back in Valdosta around October 25th to do my recruiter's assistance, have some fun and be there for Halloween. Upon arriving here and learning of the mandatory, it's possible i'll be here until Christmas. If i am, they'll let us go home for Christmas and recruiter's assistance. The clearance can take anywhere from 3 weeks to 6 months, there's really no telling. In the meantime, i just do base details. There are different details you can do, like linen exchange, work at the housing office and answer phones, fogwalking (picking up trash around the base), and some others. I got this job in an office where i work with this really cool Panamanian guy who is in charge of any kind of testing that takes place on base. Like if you go to test for a promotion or wanna retake your asvab, you go to him. I usually just sort out the results by squadron or shred some paper. He's real cool about breaks and i usally take at least 3 a day, including a two hour lunch break. We also still have room inspections and physical tests but it's nothing like basic. You gradually get more liberties but it sucks here. The base is boring and the town sucks, i hear. Haven't been able to go off base yet. Well, i wanna hear from people so email me if you can. I'd post my number up here but i don't have a phone. I'll prolly get a cell phone soon. I would've got one the other day but there is only sprint on base and they were out of the 2 phones i would've gotten. So, i'll have to wait a few more days. I've been checking them out online, but i gotta ask the people about the plans and rates and all that. I'm waiting to get emails back from them. Anyways, take it easy everbody.
