I just got back off my little two week sea trial thingy with the Roosevelt. I really need to update more often, but I think that will be hard seeing as I am going away Sep 12th for the big one. So far I have 5 months of sea time from all these 2 and 3 week workup things. I don't know how to describe it really, but they are all little tests to make sure the Carrier is qualified for deployment. The next one up is the big one, 7-8 months out in the Persian gulf.

I am really excited, but afraid at the same time. Things are going to be different this time, instead of doing circles in the ocean or starting forest fires in florida (If you caught that news article, that was us) we will be doing actual navy like stuff. And usually we are outside florida, this time it is off to the gulf.

As for this last time out, after a while it all becomes pretty routine. We always have a mock war we have to fight with a made-up country. Every carrier names their enemies something different, for us on the Roosevelt our enemy is Garnet (Florida) who seems intent on invading Amber (the Carolinas).

One cool thing was we actually had a fighter sqaudron from the French Navy onboard. They brought their new fighter, this Rafale thingy. I thought it was a sweet looking aircraft, and I thought it was awesome to have Rafale's and Hornets parked right next to eachother.

Here is a pic of us and the french, this is from what we just did over the last two weeks. The french jet is the smaller of the two types, the bigger jets are our super hornets.
