The new housing developments on the north side of town are going to bring in roughly 1300 new students, and I figure at least 35% of those students will be in high school for any 4 year period. So that's about 450 students. So you add the current over crowding and the new students that would be coming into Vacaville and right there you have more than the 1000 max students the school district's career center would hold.
They say that enrollment is on the decline, and that next year they're projecting to lose about 250 students. Well, I've seen the numbers, and a majority of that decline is coming from the elementary schools. The high schools and middle schools have seen a very, very small decline. And now the district is going to build 3 new elementary schools. I say give me a break. We don't need 3 new elementary schools, we just shut down 3 elementary schools because we didn't have enough students or the money to fund them.
These are all things I'm bringing up to the board on the 9th of Dec. They should know enough to make the right decision about building a third comprehensive high school.
