I have read some of the comments/concerns that a couple people have left on my lj regarding my announcement that I was running for City Council. To those people, and to anyone else who has concerns similar to those I say this.

I understand that there are some doubts as to my ability to maintain a public office such as city councilman, especially considering my lack of age, experience, or study of politics. However, some of our greatest leaders have come from virtually no experience. Our first President, George Washington, had no political experience when he became President. What did he have? A zeal for doing what was right. The thing that set him apart from everyone else was that he loved what he was doing regardless of the "experience needed" to run the job. I have a passion for seeing Vacaville move forward. I am an 18-year-old student who sees great possibilities for this great community. I am an Eagle Scout that can not only tie a knot, but also solve a problem. Any issue that the public or a commission brings to my attention, I will carefully examine and consider before making a decision. I plan to work together with my fellow citizens in order to what is right for Vacaville. Most of all, I intend to prove that experience and political know-how is not what this city needs; rather, it needs a desire to make Vacaville better for everyone. Vote for Vacaville by voting for me, Alex Henthorn.
