8 really cool things I saw at the Dethklok show last night!

So yeah, I went to see Dethklok last night. They and their opening bands put on an amazing show. Here's just a few things I saw at the show last night that made me glad to be a metal fan.

1. First off: Dethklok I knew, Black Dahlia Murders, All That Remains, and Machine Head were all bands that I'm unfamiliar with, but now I need to pick up their CD's, and that's what an opening act is about: Get your fans familiar with a new band that they may not know and you really love.

2. Mosh pit Etiquette: Now, we all know the rules: Hit only as hard as you want to be hit, if someone falls down, pick them up. Now, at one point, the floor was getting really slippery because some idiots decided to bring beers within the vicinity of the pit (FYI: if you bring a drink near a pit, it's gonna get spilled.) Well, one pitter got tired of playing on the worlds most dangerous slip and slide, whipped off his flannel shirt, and started mopping up the beer. He got a good portion of it, too, and the most pit was suddenly safe to go slamming into your fellow metalheads again. That's just a really cool act, IMO.

3. Dr. Rockso getting the crowd to chant "12 foot boners in the sky!"

4. "Nathan Explosion" saying "Fuck you!" to Hurricane Sandy, saying she can suck his dick, and then postulating on how awesome a blowjob from a hurricane could be.

5. Dethklok covering, "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay." Toki didn't know the words.^_^

6. The Lead singer of Machine Head 3 times took his onstage drink (looked like it was either a Jagerbomb or a vodka and cranberry), and threw it out into the crowd. 2 out of the 3 times, the fan caught the drink with hardly a drop spilled. That's talent!

7. The Resiliancy of Metal Fans: At one point during All That Remains' set, dude comes flying out of the mosh pit like he'd been shot from a cannon and inadvertently slams into a little pink haired girl. She couldn't have been more than 5 feet tall and maybe 90 pounds and she took a shot directly to the gut. Well, she goes down and her boyfriend and their friend bring her out of the crowd. 2 songs later, she's back in the crowd and fist pumping like nothing happened. Funny, tho: the lead singer of ATR a little later entreated the crowd, "Hey! Be careful in that pit! If you see some one go down, pick him back up! We don't want any one getting hurt!" I was just like, "Too late!"

8 PSA from Facebones: "Remember guys! Don't be a Douchebag to the ladies! there's only 1/3 of a woman for every 27 guys at your average heavy metal show, so be nice to them!"

So yeah, Last night was awesome! Next time Dethklok comes around, get out there and see them!
