It wasn't very surprising to me that I'd met someone as intelligent and funny and charming and good looking as Lindsey. What did surprise me was that he was, almost but not quite, from back home and that he was single. There had to be something wrong with him if he was still single. I'd probably find out on our next date. He was probably a chronic ( Read more... )

Looked at the clock and swore loudly in a couple of demon languages. I was going to be late picking Fred up. Stupid jury took forever finding my client not guilty. He'd actually been innocent for a change, I hadn't really even needed to pour on the charm and do the old song and dance this time.

Got home and showered as quickly as possible. Looked through my clothes twoce before I found something that looked comfortable and not too fancy. This was a mountain and bluegrass concert, people wouldn't be dressed up, but they wouldn't be looking like something from the Beverly Hillbillies either. Ended up with a dark blue shirt, black slacks, my boots, and I grabbed a cowboy hat o my way out the door.

Was a little nervous pulling up in front of her place. This was going to be our first real date. The dinner had been spur of the moment. Checked my breath, straightened my hat, and walked up to the door, making sure my hands stayed behind my back.

Knocked a couple of times and waited for her to open the door. Pulled the flowers out from behind my back. "These are for you, little lady." I tilted my hat at her and smiled. She took the roses, and I looked her up and down. "You look gorgeous."

I'd had butterflies in my stomach all day long and when the doorbell rang, they pretty much increased in size exponentially. I stopped at the mirror just before the door, ran my fingers through my hair, smoothed out my skirt and opened the door. He looked so handsome that all the breath went out of me in a soft sigh. The blue of his shirt made his eyes pop out and I couldn't help but stare at the as he talked to me.

After a few seconds, I realized he'd brought me flowers and I blushed and took them from him. Stepping away from the door, I grinned, "Thank you, Lindsey. Come on in....I want to put these in water." I smiled as he shut the door and I went into my kitchen for a vase. As I filled it with water, I watched him look around my living room at all the pictures. I put the vase of flowers on my kitchen table and took in a deep breath of their fragrance. "These are absolutely beautiful.....and they smell...wow."

I glanced at the clock and then at him, "The concert starts in about....an hour, right? So, should we get on the road?" I had no clue where he was taking me, but I didn't mind spending time with him. He was smart and handsome and any time spent with Lindsey would be well worth it.

It was a thirty minute drive, but if we wanted good seats, right up front, we should probably leave now. "Yes, ma'am. I want to be right up front where we can watch the banjo player's fingers dance over those strings." Banjo players always impressed the hell out of me. Each finger had it's own little pick, and they could play so damn fast.

"You look absolutely gorgeous." I gave her a huge smile. Such a pretty outfit. That skirt really showed off those sexy legs. Glanced down at her feet. "Even your toes are beautiful." I think she'd turned about three shades of red at this point, so I held out my arm. "Shall we go then?"

Fred took my arm and I lead her out to my truck, which I'd had cleaned at one of those professional car wash places. It almost looked shiny and new. Certainly smelled better. I heled the door open for her as she got in, taking another look at those nice legs before getting into the driver's side. Started the truck up and we were off. This was going to be fun.

I giggled and blushed, "My toes?" Wriggling them, I glanced down and smiled, "Thank you...they're thoroughly pleased with themselves now." I smiled and nodded, sliding my arm into his, "I can't wait, this is going to be so much fun." I gave him a grin and headed to his truck. I could feel the muscles on his forearm and I really didn't want to let go. He was warm and solid and he smelled really good. I was still in awe that I'd met a guy like Lindsey, single, in a grocery store. It was almost too good to be true.

The drive to the concert was so enjoyable that I didn't realize the thirty minutes had gone by until we were there. Lindsey pulled the truck to a stop and turned off the engine and I realized I'd been looking at him the entire trip. I blushed and looked around at all the people heading into the concert. We talked a little more and then hopped out of the truck and headed inside. We were walking close to one another, so I slid my fingers into his hand and bit my lip hoping he wouldn't take his hand away.

We found our seats, which were in the middle and near the front and settled into them. My fingers were still being held by his hand and I grinned and blushed at him. "So, tell me about your family. Do you have any brothers or sisters?" I wanted to know all about him, inside and out. He was a good guy and I had an urge to find out everything I could about him. I gently rubbed the locket that my grandmother had given to me when I was eleven and listened to him talk.
