It's 10 PM and there's nobody in chat, so I'm playing online poker while listening to Crowded House. I brought out the box with my CD old collection and randomly popped the first one I got my hands on into the computer. Now I have to decide which songs to import into Itunes. Maybe I'll even purge the IPod of nefarious country music and use it during my commute.
The house is very empty without C and E. You know what's really weird. Normally on weekdays I start pestering C about going to bed around 9 PM, but when I'm on my own I find myself randomly surfing and watching stupid crap on TV by ten, and really have to force myself to go to bed. That probably explains why I slept ten hours last night. At least I feel sort of rested today.
I'm also out of Battlestar Galactica episodes to watch. The middle of season 2 sure ended with one big ol' cliffhanger. Bastids. Next up will be one of the two Netflix movies I've specifically got because I didn't think C would enjoy them - The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada and Night Watch. Anyone seen them?
Here's an entertaining story from my work buddy P. P is visiting from our office Down Under, but he's originally from England. The other night he had to take a taxi to get home. The cab driver noticed he had an accent and asked where P was from. When he replied "England" the driver said "oh, I used to live there for a couple of years back in 80's". P got curious and asked where he had stayed. The reply was "Wormwood Scrubs". Now that doesn't mean a thing to me, but apparently it's a maximum security prison in London, so that's a lesson to all of us driving around in the DC metro area not to piss off taxi drivers.
Speaking of prisons, a couple of days ago I got a letter from Homeland Security that I'm "deemed to be a lawful permanent resident of the United States", meaning that they have now removed the conditions on my green card. I immediately told C to inform her grandmother that I won't have to go back to Sweden when I decide to leave C because she isn't ironing my shirts or vacuuming or doing the dishes or mopping or polishing my shoes or forcing me to hold the baby.
Since the next step in my Americanization is to become a citizen, I just had to try out this test
paedraggaidin posted. No need to study, it appears.
You Passed the US Citizenship Test
Congratulations - you got 8 out of 10 correct!
