When Kneecaps go bad....

Anyone who sees me on a regular basis recognizes that occasionally I move like a 400 year old cripple. This is from some fairly bad knee pain (and loud grinding noises) I have been having and adamantly ignoring for quite a while now. If you dont go see a doctor, there isnt really a problem.

A few weeks back, it got to the point where even I couldnt ignore it any longer. I broke down, went to a doctor, she sent me for x-rays (which I never heard back about)and gave me a prescription for Physiotherapy which I promptly began to procrastinate about arranging. yesterday, I worked late so I decided to finally make an effort, called a Physio Clinic, and actually booked an appointment. Which I just got home from.

When the therapist repeatedly uses word like "weird" , "strange" and "I have no idea why it's doing that", well... lets just say, my kneecaps arent very well loved right now. Apparently they werent happy living on top of my knees. The traditional home for kneecaps around the world wasnt good enough for them. So, they moved.... off to the sides of my knees. Which of course does NOT work. The "weird" part comes when the therapist explains that the muscles responsible for preventing this seem to be very strong, and trigger at all the right times. My willful kneecaps just dont do what they are told.

SO, now I have tape on my knees... holding or well PULLING my kneecaps trying to force them back closer to the actual groove they are supposed to reside in... Let me say that is "weird" and mightily uncomfy. And I have a list of excersises that I need to do repeatedly, and they also bend and pull parts of my body in ways that arent familiar... and sometimes arent comfortable. Some of them I will need volunteers to help me with, and others just seem slightly shameful... Anyways, I am now in the process of rehabilitating wayward kneecaps.... and hopefully they will return to living in their normal home sooner than later.
