Life keeps on trucking

I suppose I should really update this journal more often, but I am pretty all over the place recently due to the current events. But I am hella bored right now and don't really feeling like start my homework yet, so here I go lol.

Let me just start with some general life updates. My new relationship with Joe is going amazing. I can truly say that I love being around him all the time and he makes me so happy. We can talk about anything and everything and I never feel awkward or ashamed about something I say or have done. He is such a sweetheart and love him so much. We have only been together about three months but it feels so much longer than that and everyday I am so thankful for finding him when I did.

School is going great. Trying to give it that last push toward the end of this semester and hopefully my grades all look fine and dandy. I am going to be busy as fuck everyday during the week up until the end of the semester so here is hoping that I don't have some sort of mental breakdown lol.

Spring break was last week/weekend, and it was probably one of the best weeks of my entire life. Me and Joe went to visit my family back in cleveland the first weekend. I was sick and Joe was a little sick too, and my skin had been having some problems as well. My mom kept telling me that I looked like shit because of the rash I had on my face (which has all cleared up by now I might add). Other than that it was a very pleasant stay at home. My mom liked Joe alot, and he was shit talking her about scrabble, which if you know my mom wasn't the best idea. I showed Joe around all the areas and hot spots of my illspent youth and we did dinner with my parents and sister, then played some games. Joe met everyone but my brother John because he is in Chicago, and they all seemed to like him a bunch. Sunday we cooked dinner/lunch for my folks and then drove up to Ann Arbor.

We spent the whole week in Ann Arbor visiting University of Michigan. It is one of the top schools I am looking at for doing graduate work and let me just say, I would kill lots of babies to get into this school. We sat in on many classes and rehearsals, including choir, orchestra, and wind ensemble. We also sat in on conducting workshops and I loved every single minute of it. Joe isn't a very musically oriented person, but even he was impressed at the level of workings at the school. He used to think classical music was just boring, but seeing it through my eyes, I have opened up his tastes and he is beginning to enjoy it. He thinks the world of what I plan on doing for the rest of my life and it is great to have his support in that. Needless to say I felt rather inspired from the whole experience with the school. The concert we went to Friday night for the symphonic band was astounding. It made me realize what types of people I will really be competing against, because the level at ODU is bare minimum if that in terms of the music making abilities. So I have been trying to step up my game since we got back home.

Besides visiting the school, I FINALLY got to met my friend Roger, whom I have been talking to since I was living with my ex Tim back in 2007. Let's just say that we are so much more closer now than before I went up to visit haha. Roger lives in Yspilanti which is right near Ann Arbor, and he was showing us all the hotspots in town and we pretty much were hanging out with him every night after we were done at the school. We went to many bars and had many drinks over the course of the whole week. Highlights being 64 ounce Longest Long Islands (Joe had a fun evening with those haha), many "boos" of the day, and a fun dinner with Roger's friend Chrissy. Saturday night we also went to a bear bar in detroit, and had tried to set up this guy Toby who we had been talking to online all week with Roger. Roger decided to bring his sorta boo Gordon along so it ended up me hanging out with Toby the whole evening. Joe was the DD and let's just say I don't remember much of the evening from about 12:45-1:45am. Oopsies! Needless to say, me and Joe ended up making out with Toby (Joe being totally sober too mind you haha) and Roger running around with Gordon the whole night. It was a huge blast and the bar tender was a real sweetheart hooking us up with amazing drinks. Yeah it was a very good time. Until the drive back sunday, ugh.

So since then I have been trying to really amp up my workload with school and get mad focused. I have upped my practice time with the tuba about 600% which isn't much considering I was barely practicing before lol. I should be getting in on average at LEAST 2 hours in any given day, most days more than that actually. I am also taking up helping my friend Simone with sight singing stuff and hoping that will help me at the same time, which it is. Been having meeting with the conductors at school and trying to make sure I get myself on the right path for doing conducting graduate work. All in all life is going very very well for me currently. My outlook on life has changed so much since the whole breakup with Rob, and honestly I do miss him very much and hope things are well for him. He will always hold a place in my heart and I hope he doesn't forget that. But both of our lives are much better without each other being all tangled up. I can truly say that I love my life right now, even if there are little things going on that aren't the best.

Wow I guess this huge update is what happens when I don't update this for weeks at a time. If you guys wanna hear any detailed descriptions of the trip to Michigan give me a holla.
