I do think there is still a chance for Malfoy... not that I think he will ever become a saint or anything, but I do believe that he just doesn't have it in him to be a killer... that's why he couldn't kill Dumbledore.
I think he got a dose of what is to come for him if he does fully embrace the life of a Death Eater from Slughorn. He has been used to special treatment just because of the money and connections his father had, but now that his father has been proven to be a Death Eater, Malfoy no longer recieves that type of treatment... not even from Voldemort. I think Voldemort is taking out his anger at Malfoy's father on Malfoy... and I think that since Malfoy was unable to kill Dumbledore, the persecution is going to continue until Malfoy is either killed or just has a complete breakdown.
I believe we saw a glimpse of the true Malfoy when he was crying in the bathroom to Moaning Myrtle. Now that he doesn't have his father telling him what to do every step along the way, he is lost and very confused. He is looking for attention, but is not liking the attention he is getting.
Maybe I'm totally wrong, but I do believe redemption is still possible for him. I also think Snape is still good, and he'll be the one to guide Malfoy away from the Dark Lord.
That's my two cents on the subject. I'll probably end up having to eat my words. *grins*
