Characterization:
Being homely and mostly friendly (at times a bit too noisy), sometimes a bit slow/simple minded, has a thick accent & problems with the English language, prefers foreigners that are paying tourists/costumers - when they come to his “house”- and would, once in a while, rather become independent again instead of staying just a federal state.

He keeps calling people who live in the Northern & Eastern (and some middle) parts of Germany - and of course Prussia himself - Saupreiß (=”Prussian pig”) in a jokingly way even today. He’s sort of an Austria fanboy and got his ass handed to him by Prussia in the past (1866 - Austro-Prussian War) which is why he ended up as a part of the German empire/Germany and that still bugs him big time.

Loves to give (especially females) little presents, but those are mostly of the funfair kind (gingerbread hearts and plush toys) or cooking/offering simple meals (neither has the skill or the patience for fancier or more exotic stuff), ‘cause eating and drinking is important… and sleeping too, go to bed!~♥

In depth (warning: tl,dr):

The actual federal state Bavaria is like the German equivalent to Texas or Quebec (with the later one there is also a partnership). The predominant faith is still Roman Catholicism.

"It is a common joke in Germany that Bavaria is not part of Germany. In fact a minority seriously agrees with this notion; the Bayernpartei (Bavaria Party) advocates Bavarian independence from Germany. It is important to note that Bavaria was the only state to reject the West German constitution in 1949."

Germany and the other federal state-tans often roll their eyes at Bavaria and his behavior (he sometimes simply is a wannabe-special-snowflake / annoying relative) or try to outright ignore him, but otherwise they get along most of the time. And he has culture wise often more in common with Austria than with the rest of Germany.

Personally I see Prussia and Bavaria as brothers who most of the time heavily despise each other and often get into fights (verbally and physically). But while they often fought against each other, there were also times when they helped (e.g. during War of the Austrian Succession & Franco-Prussian War) or at least acknowledged each other.

And in a way he still sees Prussia as existing on his own (was really shocked by his dissolution and secretly happy, that he didn't disappear, not that he will ever admit it).
