Myungsoo wasn’t going to complain, really, he wasn’t going to. But with an excited Nam Woohyun dragging him from one shop to another, he had no choice but to give him a piece of his mind. So, when Woohyun was about to pull him along to yet another shop, Myungsoo jerked his hand away from Woohyun’s grasp. This earned a confused look from both Woohyun and Howon (maybe a bit of hurt from the former). Myungsoo couldn’t meet their eyes.
“Hyung,” he started. “Can you please stop dragging me around? We didn’t even buy anything.”
Woohyun couldn’t hide his surprise, Myungsoo had never been...like this before. Not last month when they were looking for a present for Howon, not last year when they were looking for a present for Dongwoo, not even when they were looking for a present for Sungjong and Sungyeol, just - never. So why was he acting like this now?
“Myungsoo-yah,” Woohyun tried, soft and careful. “I’m sorry for dragging you around, but... Haven’t I been dragging you around, all these years, whenever we were shopping together? Why are you complaining now?”
Woohyun had a point. All these years of being dragged around and Myungsoo had never complained. He’d let himself be pulled wherever the older wanted. But that was before everything came down to him. That was before the end of last year and the beginning of this year. That was all before he realized that he could never see Nam Woohyun as his brother.
Yes, Kim Myungsoo had strong feelings for his brother’s fiance, Nam Woohyun.
It had been for a couple of years now, he himself realized it when he tried to backtrack. What he thought was a brotherly love, was apparently more complicated than that. This feeling of his should never be shown, should never let itself be known. Because Nam Woohyun was Kim Sunggyu’s fiance...
“I’m tired,” he gave the lamest excuse, turning to Howon’s direction but not really looking at the man either. “Howon-hyung, let’s just buy that antique guitar we saw earlier, Sunggyu-hyung will like it,” he said, walking away.
Woohyun turned to Howon, giving him a look that certainly said “what did I do wrong?” Howon didn’t seem to have the answer to that though, so he only shook his head before following Myungsoo. He might not have the answer to Woohyun’s unspoken question, but he had some kind of a hunch. If he wasn’t mistaken, the reason why Myungsoo had been acting weird lately was because Myungsoo felt jealous. Five years ago, when Sungjong came to the mansion, Myungsoo had been jealous of all the attention directed to the youngest, that was why he acted indifferent. Right now, Myungsoo was probably jealous of his own brother. Woohyun had been so excited about Sunggyu’s birthday since days ago, saying that he’d give him the best present ever (which he said every year). Howon noticed that Myungsoo had been acting like usual until this morning when he told him that Woohyun would be joining them. It all made sense now.
“Myungsoo,” Howon called when he finally caught up with Myungsoo, though the younger pretended not to hear him. “Myungsoo, hey,” he called again, but Myungsoo kept on walking, speeding up even. Howon let out a frustrated groan and sped up as well, grabbing Myungsoo by his shoulder, forcing him to turn around.
“Kim Myungsoo, this is not funny,” he said firmly, looking into Myungsoo’s eyes. He would only call Myungsoo with his full name when he was being deadly serious; this time was no exception.
Myungsoo gulped. He couldn’t do anything except look at Howon - he knew the other meant serious business, they hadn’t been together for long for nothing. It had always scared him whenever Howon became like that. And he thought today was going to be a good day too.
“I- I’m sorry... I guess I am tired after all...”
Bullshit, Howon wanted to say, but opted not to. “I understand, but you didn’t have to go overboard like that. It’s not like you to snap at young master Woohyun.”
“Woohyun,” Myungsoo corrected.
Howon rolled his eyes. “Whatever. Now listen to me. You’re going to find him and apologize. And no, you’re not going to act like a moody bastard who kicks everyone in your way,” he added before Myungsoo could say something. “I’m going to take care of young master Sunggyu’s present.” Without waiting for Myungsoo’s reply, Howon left, mingling with the crowd around them.
Myungsoo sighed; he did feel guilty, snapping at Woohyun like that. Woohyun was someone he liked, he shouldn’t be acting like this... He liked Sunggyu as well, so he should be happy...right?

Sunggyu was enjoying Sungjong’s company and cookies amidst piles of papers he had to read that day, talking about how their day went so far and how Sungjong was feeling (“I’ve been telling everyone since last night that I was feeling better!” the youngest said in exasperation). Eventually, they were talking about Sunggyu’s upcoming birthday.
“Come to think of it, I haven’t seen Woohyun-hyung today. It’s always entertaining to see him being so hyped up about everyone’s birthday,” Sungjong laughed. Sunggyu laughed as well before answering.
“Woohyun’s shopping with Myungsoo, as usual.” That was right. Woohyun shopping with Myungsoo was nothing unusual. As far as Sunggyu remembered, Woohyun had always been attached to Myungsoo, perhaps ever since he moved in to this mansion? He could only guess. It didn’t bother him though.
Right when Sungjong was about to talk again, Sunggyu’s phone rang. Sungjong didn’t miss the way Sunggyu’s face lit up as he read the caller’s ID.
“Give me a minute,” Sunggyu said, standing up and disappearing into another room in his study. Sungjong tilted his head, curious as to who the caller was. He certainly hadn’t seen his hyung made that face before. The Sunggyu he knew was always prioritizing others’ needs first; especially his brothers. That face - he was certain of it - wasn’t one of someone like that. That face was more...like a hard-working man getting an encouraging, loving text from his lover? Something like that, Sungjong concluded, nodding to himself.
Meanwhile, in the other room, Sunggyu answered the call hastily. “H-hello?”
As the person on the other line greeted him back, he could feel the heat rising up to his cheeks.
“How’s the shopping going...?”

Woohyun sat alone in a cafe, a cup of coffee had been long forgotten. He felt horrible and dejected; he didn’t know what he had done wrong and he couldn’t even think of any reasons as to why he had a foul mood so suddenly. Or maybe it was because of Myungsoo. But why? It shouldn’t have affected him too much, Myungsoo could do anything he wanted and Woohyun wouldn’t give a damn. But he did. And why was that?
Nearly an hour had passed after Myungsoo and Howon left him alone. He thought he’d wait for them, so he had decided to take a space at a cafe. He could’ve gone home first but he didn’t like the idea. Even so, he knew that his effort of waiting could possibly be in vain as those two might as well ditch him and go home and act like nothing happened. If that happened, though, Woohyun would make sure not to see their face again.
Sighing for the nth time, Woohyun spared his watch a glance before standing up, the black coffee untouched as he pulled out money for some tip and turned around to the exit...
... Only to come face-in-face with a rather big, yellow bouquet. Sunflowers.
Woohyun blinked rapidly, this was a rather pleasant surprise. What was his favorite flower, in a bouquet, doing here in front of his face? Who would even give him flowers so suddenly? Then again, the only person who knew about his favorite flower was -
“Myungsoo...?”
The bouquet was lowered bit by bit, taking its time to reveal the face of the holder. Myungsoo stood there, a hint of red covered his cheeks and Woohyun found himself staring at the younger, captivated by the honest emotion shown through his expression. The Myungsoo he knew always concealed his own emotions, only rarely expressing himself on some occasions, but this - this time, Myungsoo was...raw, to put it easily. And Woohyun enjoyed it. Or rather, loved it. This was a side of Myungsoo he’d never seen, so, subconsciously, he reached out to cup Myungsoo’s face. When Myungsoo flinched, Woohyun didn’t pull away because right after, he saw the younger’s face turning a deeper shade of red if that was even possible.
“Th- This is for you,” Myungsoo stuttered, pressing the bouquet against Woohyun. “I- I’m really sorry...for what I’ve said earlier...”
Woohyun stayed silent, fingers now stroking the younger’s rosy cheek as he stared at him. I could do this all day, he thought absent-mindedly, ignoring everything else, including Myungsoo’s voice which was continuously calling his name. He only snapped out of his reverie when Myungsoo grabbed his free hand in order to make him hold onto the yellow bouquet.
“Thanks...” he said, looking down at the flowers in his hand, smiling. “This is beautiful, Myungsoo. Thank you.” Kim Myungsoo knew all too well that Nam Woohyun matched sunflowers. They were both bright, and they shone like no other. When Woohyun smiled, he was like a sunflower on full bloom. Sunflowers attracted people because of their beauty, so did Woohyun. Wherever the older went to, he’d always be the center of people’s attention.
The flower language of sunflowers, though, was ‘admiration.’ Myungsoo believed it fit himself more than it did Woohyun. He swallowed a great deal of things he wanted to say to Woohyun and said another thing instead, even though he knew it broke his own heart.
“Please be happy with Sunggyu-hyung.”
He missed the look on Woohyun’s face because he was already running, away from Woohyun, away from the cafe, away from the mall and into a cab that would take him to the comfort of his house, of his room.

Dongwoo wondered what got Sunggyu into a good mood so suddenly.
Less than three hours ago, he was sure that the older man was sulking behind his desk, signing papers and reading documents like there was no tomorrow. But fifteen minutes ago said man came out with Sungjong and told him he could have an hour break, which he didn’t know how to spend. The young masters then proceeded to run down the hall while having a gigglefest, disappearing before Dongwoo’s eyes.
He sighed, not knowing what to do to kill time. When he realized, he was already in front of the mansion’s library, surprising himself because he didn’t have any intention of going there at all. Shrugging, he entered the large room and was instantly welcomed by the calming smell of books. The library was never his first choice to go to whenever he felt like being alone, but it had always been high on his list of the most calming places in the mansion. Sometimes he came there to nap, and maybe he’d do just that today as well.
But then he was welcomed by the sight of one of his young masters (also his favorite little brother) sleeping on a long table, using a thick book as a pillow.
Dongwoo approached the sleeping figure, careful not to make any sound that could wake the younger. Keeping his eyes on Sungyeol, he sat down beside him, watching him snore lightly as he was deep in his slumber. That made Dongwoo think of something so simple yet so destructive:
He’s adorable.
It wasn’t unusual for him to think like that though, because Sungyeol had always been the closest person to him besides Howon. They talked about anything and everything, and just how Myungsoo was to Howon, Sungyeol was important to Dongwoo. He didn’t even know how it started; it just happened. Maybe it was because Sungyeol didn’t have anyone to go to (Myungsoo had Howon, Woohyun had Sunggyu) back then. He used to come to Dongwoo wearing a pout, saying “play with me” or “everyone’s having fun without me.” Maybe it was because of that insecurity that Dongwoo came to favor the younger; to take care of him, to push all his worries away.
But then Sungjong came and lessened Sungyeol’s time to be with Dongwoo. And although Sungyeol did his best to spare his time for him, it was nearly impossible to have time with university and all the things he had to do. Gradually, Sungyeol spent more time with Sungjong.
At some point, he knew there was jealousy in his heart. But jealousy for whom, he didn’t know.
