ok this is me, starting my comment, because i've read your story twice now and i keep being like OK NOW IS THE TIME I WILL COMMENT and then i just stare at your fic and realise i am so completely overwhelmed by the awesome that i don't know where to start.
so, first thing: i love that it's from jongup's point of view. like, i don't know if it's just because he's so weird or what, but it seem really difficult to get into his head -- it helps that the members themselves say they can't figure out what actual jongup is thinking, and they live with him -- but i feel like this isn't something you see all that often, much less in really long, plot-driven fics that are as involved as this one is. (is that weird and possibly totally untrue? yeah, i dunno, but it seems that way to me, so there you go, lol.) i love the way you've written jongup here -- it totally serves as an explanation for his weird speech and behaviour, because to him, it isn't weird. it seems perfectly logical to him, and the way you've chosen to describe that makes it seem perfectly logical to the audience, too, so good on you, because that doesn't seem like an easy thing to do. jongup's a funny kid, a little out there sometimes, and you managed to write him that way -- and believably -- without making it seem unrealistic. good on you!
jongup's youth really comes out in some ways, and yet he also has the maturity of someone who's been training to save the world from a young age, which -- again -- doesn't sound like something it'd be easy to do, but you really worked it out well. <3 when it comes down to it, they're just a bunch of kids, and there are all these little moments sprinkled throughout the fic that really display that part, despite the fact that they can also be completely professional. i love that about this *_____* i'm such a total sucker for heroes/superpowers/etc (i love comics, bet you wouldn't have guessed it) and young heroes always get me the most. it's so sad that they take them away at such a young age ;_____; you totally got me with that whole part, ngl.
and!! you wrote in soulmates trope and wrote it really well, omg \o/ i love the soulmates trope so much, wow, and the tattoo thing is really cool. i also love how it ties into their powers and the ways it affects them -- and nice inclusion of other pairings with it, lol. for real though, the little tiny mentions of the other pairings (banghim in particular) kind of killed me ;________; like baby jongup following yongguk around and then himchan kind of stealing him BUT TOTALLY ALSO LOVING HIM I JUST ;____; (ok no i promised myself i'd stay semi-coherent in this comment and damnit i am going to) but seriously when youngjae lost his shit after he ~saw~ daehyun die in the beginning it kind of broke me ;___; poor babies~
i love the way you wrote jongup's confusion over the whole thing, over not really being attracted to anybody before, about the whole coming of age deal and the choices he has to make and the ways it'll affect him. the soulbonding thing was a great way to play with the coming of age thing ;____; 10 points for you~ and the slow buildup of his relationship with junhong is the greatest thing, omg, it's so sweet and perfect <3 and everyone sees it but them, ofc. a++
I HIT THE COMMENT CHARACTER LIMIT, WHAT??? THAT'S A THING? HOW WHAT
OMG OK
gonna be quick about this then, sorry, BACK TO THE COMMENT
the part where they finally confess is really sweet. they're both such odd kids, lol, idk, i felt like it fit well.
“I guess it means I belong to you and you belong to me.”
Junhong seems to like this idea. He closes his eyes and snuggles closer to Jongup. “So if I get lost or go…far away, you’ll always be able to find me?”
i love that those are their lines about it -- like that's what it means to them. it's so perf ;________; this is totally getting away from me and getting really super long but i also wanted to mention that i really REALLY like your power choices for them -- you don't usually see some of those, so i was impressed. <3 i saw your explanation about them (i think in another comment? idk idk) and that's so great Q____Q seriously, that was probably my favourite part about the fic. you used different powers than you usually see in this kind of thing, and you worked their powers so flawlessly into this 'verse and their characters and interactions and ;lakdsa;djkl ok i just love it <3 <3 <3 the whole weird dystopian world thing really got me, too
(ps i toyed with the idea of writing super powers!fic for tbb too, and now i'm glad i didn't, lol (one of my prompts was "daehyun loses his voice" so i was gonna give him a sonic scream for powers andddd yeah. i am really really glad i didn't do that because yours is a million times better than what i'd have come up with.))
this is really friggin' long so i'm totally done now, i swear, but to sum it up: four for you, glen coco. you go, glen coco!
JIIIIN ;AAA; ♥ I was pretty overwhelmed by this comment (you can tell by the amount of time it took me to reply xD) I am so so glad the Jongup point of view worked for you, cause frankly I had no idea what I was doing, Jongup is such an enigma...an amazing one, but an enigma nonetheless ♥ there just seems to be so many things he's unsure about, but the few things he's sure of he's passionate about, precious child <333
ugh I love the concept of young people burdened with problems for adults, I mean it's half canon anyways. They work so hard, being an idol is grueling and not easy if they're to survive in that industry ;___; I'm glad that got across, hehe ^^ (I might've guessed it after our recent convos about non-kpop fandoms xD) yeah I was a bit mean with the taking them away from their families at a young age thing, but I love the concept of team = family so it was easy to do ahaha orz
hehe I'm glad you liked the soulmates thing! It was exciting to include an interesting idea I had and make it actually a part of the plot :3 and my shameless Daejae bias OTL
LOL so the power thing, I actually considered making Daehyun have sonic voice powers but in the whole planning out a battle I couldn't find a good way to include it to mesh with the team.....lol. Wheee I don't know if this is much of a reply, it's more me rambling at you based off what you said, but thank you for reading and taking time to leave such a great comment ^^ ♥
