Hockey

So hockey... that sport I love, I play often. It's been absent in my life for the better part of two years, but I don't love it any less. Hockey is something that has been in my life so long that I cannot get sick of it, and the thought of skating makes me feel like I have butterflies in my stomach.

I skated for the first time this past Tuesday. It was interesting, it's really like riding a bike, you never forgot how. The last time I did skate, I might have bruised my ribs... you know there's that possibility. I had figure skates, and there was a toepick at the end of it, and yeah not good. I couldn't skate, and I fell flat on my face 5 times at least. I remember being in Cardiff a week later, it was hailing and Monica was telling me to run. UM about that.

But hockey. I got there early, I had to get my skates sharpened, though I forgot them at home. I had to go back, it's not that far, but a nice waste of gas. I was listening to Matt Berry the whole time though, she I never got upset. He has that power over me. Anyway, so I got my skates sharpened at the rink, and then I saw Mrs. Todd. Mrs. Todd was one of my coaches when I was about 9 years old, and no matter what, she will always be Mrs. Todd to me. I get made fun of a lot for that, but old habits are hard to break, and that's how I know her. Anyway, she asked if I wanted to play with her team, and though I'm not a fan of some of her teammates, hockey is hockey. I said if they need players I would.

While waiting for my skates, I stopped in at Rink 2, and found Gail. She was skating, and we tried to yell across the ice, but please I can't hear people 2 feet in front of me, how was I going to hear Gail across the ice?? I ran over to the ice surface, by the benches, and the next whistle she came over. She asked if I was playing for Donna, aka Mrs. Todd. I said no, for the Summerhawks, though less than an hour later I was playing for Mrs. Todd. haha, oh well.

The game itself was good. We played the SunDogs, and we had 6 people. I skated hard from the start, maybe regretted that  a few minutes into the game, but it didn't matter. I was on the ice, I was fine. I'm young, I have tons of energy!! At least that is what everyone tells me. Tina and Jesse showed up, Tina was easy on them, though I really wasn't. My line and I scored two goals back to back, and we basically won the game for them. I love helping out.

I thought I skated well though, I had a new stick, and it worked well. It's not a wood stick like I've been using since my old Aluminum ones broke. Sad. So this one is nice and light, and really good.

Now being me, I skated back to back games. The second game was for the Summerhawks. The Summerhawk game went well, we played the Pink Ladies. Everyone was glad to see me, and it's kinda cool, I'm on a team with two former Nighthawks. This team I've been playing with for 4 years now, so we are tight. Now that I'm 21, they have this impression that I'm an alcoholic... am not, they are weak. Alcoholics go to AA. But I finished off the water bottle, I tried to give it to Gina, but she kept telling me to have it, so I did. Yummy.

I scored about 4-5 goals that night, I don't really remember. It's summer league so I don't keep track. I had a sneaky goal, I was behind the defenseman when she got the puck from the goalie, and I hit her stick, and the puck went into the net. Hahah. I liked that one. I thought my Father would enjoy that. Of course if that ever happened to someone on my team, he would kill them.

So I cannot wait until Tuesday night... I really did hockey. It's just something about the game.
