One year later…..

“Daddy’s home!”

The little girl ran down the hall to the front door.

“Hey Madeline, how was your day?” Noah said as he picked up the little girl off the ground.

“Good, Papa and I went to the mall with Grandma and Uncle Ethan. We also went to Grandpa ‘s grave.” The little girl replied.

“That’s good, love.”

“Daddy, where did papa big scar come from?”

“Well, he as in a really bad fight.”

“Why would someone want to hurt Papa?” The curious girl asked.

“It’s complicated sweetie. Have you brushed your teeth?”

“Oh I forgot.” Noah put the little girl back on the floor and she ran to the bathroom to brush her teeth.

Noah walked to the bedroom and found Luke.

“Hi baby,” Noah moved closer to Luke and gave him a big kiss on the cheek.

“Hey, how was work?”

“Okay, how was your day?”

“Oh, the usual especially today.”

“How is Casey?”

“He is better, Bob managed to get him a prosthetic tongue and he has moved in with Margo for now. He wants us to have dinner with him tomorrow.”

“Good.”

Noah sat on the bed next to Luke. He saw the very bad bags under his eyes.

“Luke, it been two days since you slept, have you taken your pill today?”

“No, I’m waiting till I put Maddie to sleep.”

Noah changed into some lounge clothes before spending some quality time with their daughter, Madeline.

After he read her a bed time story, Noah gave Madeline a kiss goodnight.

Luke took his pill just like he promised Noah. The two snuggle close to each other and remises about the past. Noah knew Luke would have a hard time sleeping tonight but talking about the good old days seemed to put Luke mind at ease.

Luke never fought about Maddie after that incident. He remembered the way she looked so lost and scorn. Till this day he wished he could turn back time and proved to Maddie that she was loved and people stilled cared about her.

Noah felt the same way and he still finds it hard to admit at the person responsible for eighteen deaths was Maddie.

It’s been a whole year since the incident occurred. The little town of Oakdale was shook to its core after hearing about the murders. The town was never the same again but the one thing this event has taught them is to live life to the fullest, cherish what you have now before your darkest hour because you never know when the time comes for your curtain call.
