Chapter 11: Facing the Truth
It has been three days since Noah left Oakdale and Luke was so miserable. He barely sleeps and all he does is invest all his time in his work. Natalie and Ethan were really concerned about their brother.
One Morning Natalie was sitting at the kitchen counter reading the newspaper when she noticed Luke entering the kitchen. She watched as her brother dragged his way over to the over to the frige. She noticed he still looked tried and unenergetic. She knew something had to be brothering her brother and today she was determine to find out what.
"Hi Luke, How are you feeling today?" Natalie asked as she studies Luke face. He looked awful. He looked very tired his eyes were red and puffy.
"I'm fine. How are you?"
"I'm good. Listen." Natalie walked over to Luke and grabbed one of his hands "Why don't we take a walk?"
"Sure."
Natalie and Luke were strolling along Oakdale Memorial Park. Luke barely said a word.
"So are you going to tell me what's wrong or are going to keep walking until we're out of Oakdale?" Natalie said looking very worried at her brother. Luke just sighed and continued to look forward in a daze.
"Luke?" Natalie said as she stepping directly in front of Luke.
"What's up?" Natalie yelled desperately.
"I already told you. I'm fine."
"Bull. Now, just tell me what's wrong." Natalie paused "Is this about Noah?"
Luke sighed and rolled his eyes as he stepped passed Natalie.
"So it is. What happened?"
"Nothing happened. I mean, I was starting to have feelings for him and I know he felt the same way about me, but his mom past away and he had to go back home. Now, I don't know if I will ever see him again." Luke felt a lump in his throat as he was on the verge of crying again.
"Did he say he was never coming back?"
"No, but he could not say if we was either. He even asked me to go with him..."
"Wait? He asked you to go. Why didn't you?"
"Because...." Luke didn't want to say it. Natalie saw the answer to the question in his eyes.
"Luke is the reason why you didn't go with him because of Ethan and me?"
Luke closed his eyes and nodded.
"Luke, Luke look at me. When Mom and Dad died, you took care of us and for that I will forever be thankful. But now we are older and we can take care of ourselves because you taught us how. Don't you think it's time to start living the life that you want? Do the things that matter to you? I mean, how do you think it makes me feel to know that you are missing out on a chance of happiness because of me?"
Luke stood there silently listen to his sister words. He knew she was right but there was one thing that was still bugging him.
"What about Damian? I mean, if he ever did something to hurt you guys I would never forgive myself." Luke now had tears rolling down his face. Natalie heart was breaking for her big brother. She remembered all the things he went through with Damian. She even remembered how Luke would take the wrap for any problems they caused because he never wanted to see them get hurt.
"Don't worry about him. Ethan is in college now so he stays in a dorm. I have a job at OU news and I have enough money saved up to my own place."
Natalie walked up to him and gave him a hug. Luke was excited and terrified at the same time.
"You have done more than most parent would every asked from their child, Luke. Now, your job is done. It's time to leave the nest." Luke rest his chin on his sister shoulder and giggled with tears still running down his face.
"Is that what this is? I'm being push out of the nest."
"No, we are letting you go so you can make a nest of your own." Natalie now had tears rolling down her cheek.
"You're the best big brother in the world, Luke. Go find what makes you happy and remember no matter where you go. We will always love you."
"I love you Natalie."
Lily and Holden watched from a cloud and could not help but smiled. Their kids grew up without them and they turned out just fine. From that moment, they knew their prayers had been answered.
"How is he doing?" Reid asked.
"He still was lying on his bed looking out the window. He does look like he got some rest" said the maid.
Reid nodded. He has never seen his little brother like this. He knew Noah would have a hard time getting over the loss of their mother, but he did not know it would be this bad. He didn't talk much, he barely ate and now all he does is sits in his room looking out his window all day.
"Did you giving him the letter?"
"No, we haven't had a chance to really talk. All his does is sits in his room." Reid said with so much concerned in his voice.
"Alright maybe you should talk to him. Maybe something else is bothering him."
"Okay, but the minute he starts crying I'm outta there" Reid warned.
Reid walked into the room and saw Noah lying on the bed facing the window.
"Whoever you are I'm fine and could you please tell Dad and Reid to stop sending people in here. I want to be alone." Noah said annoyed.
"Hi bro, it's me." Reid did know what to say. Noah sighed.
"Hi"
"I didn't see you at breakfast today."
"I wasn't hungry."
"Well I figure you would be since I didn't see you at dinner last night either"
"Reid do you want something because as I told you before I want to be alone."
"I just wanted to give you this." Reid held out the letter.
"It's a letter from mom."
Noah sat up in the bed and took the envelope. He was about to open the letter when Reid got off the bed and started to head to the door.
"Reid, stay." Noah begged.
Reid nodded as Noah started to read the letter aloud.
To my baby boy,
There are so many thing that I want to say but to be honestly, you already know them. First and foremost I love you, Reid, and your father with all my heart. Stay close to each other because nothing should tear this family apart including my death. I know your father and I have put so much pressure on you and you did not ask for any of it and I'm sorry. One thing I do believe is that you are strong and you were meant to lead Hvar. That's way I wanted to see you get married to make sure that you and Hvar were in the hands someone that love you and this country as much as I do and more. I never wanted to pressure you. I know how hard it is to be in a relationship, so if I wanted to apologize and give you this advice for any situation you are in: follow your heart. You're a good, kind hearted person and when you follow your heart you never make a mistake.
I love you, I'll miss you, and words cannot describe how proud I am of you.

Noah finished the letter and wiped the tears that were coming down his face. He got off the bed and stared out the window with the advice his mom gave him ringing in his head. Noah looked at his bother and smiled mischievously at his brother. Reid started at his brother with a raised eyebrow wondering what the hell was going out in his little brother's head.
"Luke, Natalie" Ethan yelled looking through the house for his brother and sister.
"Hey Ethan" Damian yelled as Ethan passed his office.
"Yeah"
"So, how have you been?"
"Great, we are getting close to finals, so I have a lot of work to do. Have you seen Luke or Natalie? "
"I think they went for a walk. So, what about you and Noah? How has that been going?" Damian smiled hoping that things between them were good. Ethan raised an eyebrow.
"It wasn't going anywhere. I not gay and he was clearly was looking for someone but it wasn't me, so I broke things off. If you would call it that." Ethan thought about the situation.
Dame it, I know Luke had something to do with this. Damian thought.
"Well, I really need to talk to Luke about my paper so later." Ethan started to walk out of the office.
"Ah Ethan"
"Yeah" Ethan turned around.
"Why don't you and Natalie go out to eat tonight, my treat? Luke and I are going to be busy so I don't think we will have dinner ready tonight."
"Okay, thanks" Ethan smiled and left the room.
I'll show him. Damian reclined in his chair with a big evil grin on his face.
The Colonel was working on a trade agreement when he asked Jeff to fetch Reid and Noah.
Suddenly a bunch of maids came running into the coronal's office.
"Colonel Mayer, Colonel Mayer." One of the maids said as they franticly approached his desk.
"What is it ladies?"
"Prince Noah and Reid are missing. No one knows where they went."
"Are you sure?" said the Colonel. All the ladies nodded. The Colonel gestured for Jeff to find them.
A few minutes later, Jeff ran into the office.
"Sir, both Noah and Reid are missing and so is my plane."
Luke had everything set. He was taking the next plane to New York and from there he would fly to Hvar to be with Noah. Luke was down in the basement packing some of his thing. Damian sent Ethan and Natalie to the movies. He watched Luke like a hawk and was wonder what he was doing in the basement.
"Luke"
"Yeah" Luke said as he walked into the kitchen.
"What are you doing?" Damien asked calmly. Luke saw the cup and bottle of liquor on the counter. He already knew he was drunk.
"I" Luke paused. He was extremely nervous. He knew that Damian would not be very accepting of him leaving. Especially, to be with Noah in Hvar but he had to do this. He needed to be there for Noah at this difficult time in his life.
"I'm going to Hvar" Luke took a deep breath after he belted out those words.
"And why, may I ask, are you going to Hvar?" Damian asked with a slur and staggered his way over to Luke.
"To be with Noah" Luke said proudly.
"Ha-ha. You just couldn't keep your hands off him could you?" Damian said as he shoved Luke. "No, you just had to mess everything up for him and Ethan." Damian shoved Luke once more.
Luke started to become so scared. He hated when his father was like this. It was almost like Luke could not even recognize the man he called his father. He was filled with so much evil and hate, but today Luke was determine to make a stand. He was not going to put up with anymore of Damian's crap.
"Damian what are you talking about I don't do anything, and for the record, Ethan is not gay. Then again you put him on such a high pedestal it wouldn't matter. You'll still praise him and treat me like dirt." Luke was starting to become angry.
"Your right Luke, It wouldn't matter because you seem to take care of everything and fix all his problems. Then, you want a big reward or praises for all the hard work you do. My God you're so selfish just like you mother."
Luke blood started to boil. He was not going to sit here and listen to Damian talk about his mother.
"I'm not going to listen to this. I have a plane to catch." Luke turns around and starts to walk towards his room.
"Oh Damian, I will always love you and the time we had, but my heart belongs to Holden. He is my soul mate." Damian yelled as he walked down the hall mocking Lily. Luke continued to walk towards is room.
"You know what I did? I turn them into real soul mate. " Damian started to laugh uncontrollably.
"You should have seen their faces when their car skidded off the road and rolled down that steep hill." Damian continued to laugh. Luke stopped in his place lost in thought. He couldn't believe that the man who is partly responsible for his existence today was also the man responsible for causing so much misery in his life as well. Luke wanted to just walk away from this situation but his anger was getting the best of him.
"Oh and don't worry. Grandma Emma is with them since I had to kill her once she found out what happen. Too bad I couldn't get my hands on Lucinda. I would love to kill her personally but father time got to her before I....."
Damian was interrupted by Luke. Luke lugged himself at Damien and started to punch him with all his might. Damian was thrown off guard by his son's strength. Luke continued to swing as Damian shoved Luke against the wall and started to hit on Luke in the face.
They men continued to wrestle swing back and forth at each other until Luke kicked Damian off of him. Damian was hit hard in the chest and was down on the floor trying to recover. Luke quickly got up and headed for his room. He had to get out of here and get to the police. Luke was at his bedroom door when he heard Damian behind him.
"Now, it's time for you to join them." Damian said as he kicked Luke hard in the back. Luke lost his footing and went tumble down the stairs.
Damian was breathing hard as he stared at Luke's lifeless at the bottom of the stairs in the dark basement. He smiled, wiped the blood from his nose, closed the door, and locked it.
