This article actually addresses the image that seems to have come to everyone's mind:The lightning from a storm hit at 8:15 p.m., Ms. Thinnes said, when residents of nearby apartments and passersby called 911, some reporting the ground shaking and a bomb-like explosion. Someone who saw the impact, she said, likened it to scenes in the 1985 movie "Back to the Future," when lightning hitting a clock tower provided energy for Dr. Emmett Brown's futuristic car.
"The clock is still working, amazingly enough," said Ms. Thinnes.
. Still no mention of a DeLorean actually having been sighted, though!
