Gosh, I haven't listened to the Chart Show in about twenty years. *turns it up a bit*

I couldn't work out why Steve was so anxious to put the top 30 on teletext at 18:58 today. Then I remembered it was the last Sunday before Christmas. I imagine Simon Cowell will demand a recount. Ooh, it's like Rod Stewart and the Sex Pistols all over again...

With a lead of something like 52k I think a recount would be futile ;)

Is Teletext still going? I thought they'd turned it off now...

It was the BBC one which is probably called something else. ITV has gone, except for ads. But thank goodness we get a break from X Factor pap this year. I have to confess - I did buy the Susan Boyle CD, but it was a present for my dad and he asked for it especially. I got it in Sainsburys so it could be discretely slipped out under a cauliflower or similar. I'm blushing as I write this.

Ceefax is the BBC one (although who knows for how much longer)

I give anyone a pass for items bought for older relatives who specifically requested them... I say this as someone who bought a couple of boxed sets of Midsomer Murders for my mum.

Why would he demand a recount? Cowell will be over the moon. RATM are signed to his label, and the media interest has increased sales of both singles. Besides, I'm fairly sure the X Factor single will be #1 next week anyway.

Demand recount => spin story out for yet longer => more sales of both songs, probably. Not quite as satisfying for him as getting supposed enemies to boost his profits, but still worthwhile.
