Thoughts on 24, season 6

Jan 15, 2007 19:42

I should be taking a nap before my night shift. Instead, I am watching two hours of television (which is being taped). I am a sad fanpern. Oh, and laurel is right: Jack is broken, and it makes the show better.

  • Hmm, President GHW Bush's brother got elected president, and so did President Palmer's. What are the chances that some candidate in the next US presidential election will change his/her name to Palmer in order to be more electable?
  • The current president's mom was a vampire slayer. How cool is that? And how will he promote (and fund) the potential slayer in us all?
  • I remain uncomfortable with all the physical violence on the show. I suppose that it contributes to the show's edge or grit or what-have-you, but I remain skeptical when any entertainment shows this much graphic violence.
  • No wonder Harry Lennix looks so familiar: I've seen him in a million things (mostly without the accent), from "Commander in Chief" to Hellcab to "Murder One." (Trivia note: Both Lennix and Carlos Bernard are from Chicago.)
  • Should we trust Morris? He looks a lot like Fayed, and he has a non-North American accent . . . very suspicious.
  • Poor Curtis Manning: He's the only person who doesn't seem to have moved up at CTU in the last twenty months.
  • Yikes.

Not spoilers:
  • (From an ad shown during the show) A remake of The Hitcher with Sean Bean? Hm.
  • Someone at last night's party suggested that this stuff would be out on DVD right away. I thought they were guessing, or joking; they weren't.
  • Oh, and now 24 and Heroes will run opposite each other. It's a good thing that each Heroes episode runs on SciFi on Friday evenings (7:00 p.m./6:00 Central).
