The character design is ugly. But AWESOME! And individual. There may have been some duplication cheating to save the budget going on somewhere, but I didn't notice it. Special favorites of mine are the bobcat and the well dressed owl.
Even the female character is allowed to fit into this style. Though I need to tell myself that's a wig, and she pads her bra, because LIZARDS DO NOT HAVE BOOBS DAMMIT FILMMAKERS!
Yet, it also has the most adorable harbingers of death you ever saw.
Plus the cutest little ugly thing you ever saw, that will kill you of cute!

Bill Nighy and CGI always results in creepiness. But this guy is pure creepy awesome!
Claudia Black is a fox. A French one! (Though sadly lacking in screen time.)
There is a lot of crap getting past the censors. Especially in the dialog.

And it's beautiful. The desert vistas are so impressive you'd have thought they went out and just ran a camera, instead of making them in a computer. The dust and light and atmosphere of this thing is just wow. Like Kung Fu Panda, the creators love of the genre shines through that even someone like me who doesn't know much about westerns, or kung fu movies, can see it.
