End of the poemtalmidaJanuary 28 2006, 20:00:43 UTC
9. He will watch over the feet of his faithful (ones) And the impious (ones) will perish in darkness For not with strength will man prevail.
10. The Lord will strike down those who oppose him He will cause it to thunder against them from heaven
The Lord will bring justice to the ends of the earth And he will give power to his king And he will "elevate the horn of" his annointed one.
------------ Holladay suggests "treat with distinction" for וירם קרן, but I don't really like that. If the horn is a symbol of strength and power (again, Holladay), then raising or elevating it is more than treating with distinction -- wouldn't it be somehting like strengthening his annointed one?
For the same expression in 2 Sam 1, I said that Hannah "was strong" in the Lord (for "my horn is high in the Lord").
