Half-baked
One time last fall I was baking banana bread at like 2 a.m., and my mom woke up and came downstairs just to tell me how good it smelled. I'm baking banana bread right now, and it smells pretty good, and my house is empty and messy.
Santa Cruz is an intriguing place. I am not 100% sold on the program, only because it's more focused on film than audio, but I will definitely apply. I could see myself living there. I can start the third house show house! Sally and I got to kick it with the Washington bands that were here last weekend. We trespassed into a lagoon reserve and walked along the boardwalk in the dark while they busked, and there are field recordings to prove it.
New plan in the meantime: apply for an internship at the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage, which operates the Smithsonian Folkways record label. It's unpaid, but it would be a dream job. Do I know anyone in Washington DC? Is there cool stuff there?
