geocaching...

Last night, Jordan and I went for a walk on the trail by the river.  He's leaving for camp soon and I probably won't see him for a very long time.  So we decided to hang out.
We came to this little gazebo thing and he says to me "Come see this". He walks to a flagpole and lifts up the little round thing around the bottom of the pole.  Underneath is a little film cannister and inside the film cannister is a little pencil and a list of people who have found this cannister!

It's all part of this thing called "geocaching", and I'm sure I'm the last person in the world to find out about this, but it is still cool!  And I want to be a part of it!  People hide these things all over the world and you find them and sign your name or whatever.  Some geocaches are bigger and you take something from them and leave something of yours for the next person to find.  And this goes on all over the world!  You usually need a GPS device, but it's not necessary.  It just makes it easier.  Jordan told me that a geocacher found this one under the flagpole today.  The geocacher was from New Hampshire and was in Fredericton to find them all.  Apparently there are 30 in Fredericton.  One on STU campus, but no one can find it.  I want to find it!

And I guess that you can follow clues to find the geocaches and sometimes the geocachers will leave clues to all meet in one place.  But this thing is worldwide!  And that's so awesome!  I want to be a geocacher!

Anyways, this is pretty much my new favourite thing and I have every intention of looking into it further.
