i can't believe it's already june, almost, except for the fact that it's brutally fucking hot outside. there's really no other way to describe it--in fact, i'm frankly in shock that every time the weather man comes on to remind us that--SURPRISE! it's still hot!--he doesn't use exactly that description alongside an icon of birds and squirrels hanging themselves out of desperation. but whatever, they don't pay me to write the news.
i drove home and spent memorial day with my parents, which is almost as lame as it sounds. they celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary while i was there, which i never remember because i can never actually believe that they're still married. at my suggestion, we drove up to the peaks and hiked up a mountain, which my mom bitched about the entire way there and half way up because she thought it would be too much of a challenge for her...which, granted, my dad will be 61 in a few months and mom is just a few years behind him, but they're pretty tough old birds.
3875 feet up and a little sweaty, we made it without anyone breaking a hip or getting attacked by a rattle snake. i guess maybe that's how my parents look at their marriage and how they're still together. things may look insurmountable at first....
but you really can't bitch about the view.
