Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk, 278 pages

She's a fashion model who has everything: a boyfriend, a career, a loyal best friend. But when a sudden freeway "accident" leaves her disfigured and incapable of speech, she is transformed from the beautiful center of attention to an invisible monster, so hideous that no one will acknowledge she exists. Enter Brandy Alexander, Queen Supreme, one operation away from becoming a real woman, who will teach her that reinventing yourself means erasing your past and making up something better. And that salvation hides in the last places you'll ever want to look.

For some reason Amazon once recommended this book to me. Its the first Chuck (Fight Club) Palahniuk book I've ever read & it didn't disappoint. There were lots of interesting things to think about & to keep you guessing. I would recommend having a fair amount of time when you first sit down to read this. You really need to get into the story to be able to follow it properly. I read a chapter here & there at the beginning & was always having to go back & see what the heck I was reading about.

Once I actually got into the story, it was amazing & very easy to follow no matter how much it jumped around. It became increasingly harder to put down. Just when you think you've got it all figured out, something else comes along to surprise you. What a fabulous book! Quite a bit different from what I normally read, but I liked it!

Fininshed: February 12th, 2006.

I've got to get better with updating on here! Man, I never feel like writing about "real life", I come on & read about what you all are up to & then I'm off! I'm just pages away from finishing another book, so I knew I had to get on here & at least get this one posted. Now I'm off to watch Oprah! ;)
