Love and Memory

I found myself listening to the song 'Kiss Me Goodbye' by Angela Aki (composed for FF12) and missing playing FF12.

However, I have no access to any such luck, as it is, I am still slogging through Rage and attempting to get the hang of the darn rocket launcher, I miss as much as I hit. I've been slow with it, as I have about ten games on the go atm.

Once such game is Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep where I am currently spending all my time and patience on the command board. I know I should be moving onto other characters etc, but I'm really enjoying the board. I have a lot of the high powered commands on Terra but dread having to go through it ALL again with my other characters... URGH. I've grown comfortable with Terra's high crit, high str type of fighting.

I've gathered, from varied sources, that Ventus (he looks like Roxas) is the quick one, relying on blitz and disorientation tactics. Aqua (blue haired girl) is the magic user. I've never been comfortable with magic in KH. The most I've ever had use for it was using Cure. Healing myself. I can't seem to reconcile it well, likely because it's such a pig to get to via the commands menu during battle. Even with the new charge system in use, I find it difficult. I'd rather have a set amount of MP so I can waste it on spells I want, instead of waiting for the cure command to come up. I want ethers to work on my magic points, not my focus.

The story also seems kind of shallow, but as I've only played so far with Terra, maybe it'll get better. I feel a bit like storytelling has become convoluted and begun to drop off sharply.

Kingdom Hearts was a dark and epic fantasy, that sprawled throughout broken and dying worlds, where you faced distress and despair over and over again. It felt like a huge game of mousetrap and all you had to do was get to the cheese at the end somehow.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories is where stuff got confusing. Two lives shattered with memories, Riku and Sora, stuck in castle oblivion. The system was difficult and made little sense, and the story was less than thrilling.

By the time Kingdom Hearts 2 rolled around, I was feeling a bit disenchanted. Things picked up though with the introduction of Roxas, whom pretty much everyone preferred to Sora, and the excellent Axel (Got it memorised?!). I even loved how they expanded on the personalities of those still left in Org 13!

And then it got ALL KINDS OF CONFUSING in 358/2, with Xion who is Roxas or Kairi or... something.

And now Birth by Sleep, which continues the vein of confusing but with BACKSTORY confusing!!! I gotta love how the weird minds of Square Enix work....

rage, kingdom hearts
