I know my sister gossips on and on about all our old team-nates so I figured I may as well tell anyone interested a little about these people and more importantly, show some pictures of them.
First of all you'll probably already know this girl:
Yes, that's my sister, Imoen (
pink_shadow). She came to live at Candlekeep a year after Gorion and I did. Technically she's Gorion's first cousin once removed but she always called him Gorion or Mr. G.
The morning after Gorion was killed, when Imm and I were still trying to get our heads around what had happened we met these two:
Montaron and Xzar.
Montaron was a halfling and Xzar was insane. They wanted to investigate the iron crisis but I wanted to meet the friends Gorion mentioned to me so they agreed to that. They ended up not getting on with the friends (Khalid and Jaheira) so we cut ties with them not that I really trusted them anyway but Jaheira also suspected that they were Zhents.
I ran into them again in Athkatla, Xzar was looking for someone to rescue Monatron who was being held captive. It turned out Montaron was being held by Harpers and the bird I thought he'd been turned into was really an assassin. The Harpers then had the temerity to think that I was out of control and then bring into question Jaheira's loyalties? Pack of jerks! That whole sorry business is one reason neither I or Imoen work with the Harpers (Jah notwithstanding), the nearest either of us have ever come to it is that Imoen knows Kelbhen Arunsun but I heard a rumour that he parted ways with the Harpers.
As for them:
Khalid and Jaheira.
When Gorion and I were leaving Candlekeep he told me that if anything happened to him to go find them at the Friendly Arm Inn. I keep wondering about that, it's almost as if he knew Sarevok's ambush was coming.
There was a point after we cleared the Nashkel mines that I got really sick of Jaheira's high and mighty attitude and Imm and I decided to leave her and Khalid ('cause, like he'd ever seperate himself from her?). Dynaheir had picked up on this as well so she and Minsc stayed with Imm and I. We latter joined up with them again in Baldur's Gate though and Jaheira was a little less pushy after that.
Khalid was murdered by Irenicus, the last I saw of him his body was stretched out on a table, half disected. Jaheira asked me to burn him so I used a fireball on him.
Jaheira's still alive, still working for the Harpers. She doesn't come to Amn much but when she does she stays at De'Arnise Keep.
And as too that:
Minsc and Dynaheir.
Minsc was on some sort of coming of age quest so when Dynaheir had to come to the Sword Coast he acted as her bodyguard. Problem was they got caught by knolls who took Dynaheir so Minsc was looking for help to rescue her when I met him in Nashkel.
And as to the rodent, that's Boo, the Miniture Giant Space Hamster. *Giggles*
Dynaheir was a great friend who helped me learn a fair bit about magic and helped persuade Imoen to take magic seriously. She was murdered by Irenicus. I didn't see her body but Minsc did. I once overheard Imoen talking to Sarevok and apparently she witnessed Dynaheir's death.
Minsc is alive and well, he stayed in Imsvale to be their ranger, Aerie stayed with him and they eventually married and had a son, Quayle. They now live on De'Arnise lands after Imsvale was lost to the Sythillisians.
Just outside Nashkel at the time we were there they were running a carnival - rather hopeful venture given the problems to mine was having.
While we were there we found a statue of a woman. The showman said it wasn't just a statue, that instead it was a real woman who had been petrified so I wanted to see if he was right and cast a de-petrification spell on it.
He was right.
Her name was Branwen, she was a cleric of Tempus, god of War, and she helped us with clearing the mines. Turned out the superior to Mulehey, the ass who was in charge of poluting to mine's iron, was the one who petrified Branwen so she was happy when we faced and killed him.
She stayed with us after the arguement that had us split with Khalid and Jaheira. She latter left when we met up with Khalid and Jaheira - she and Jah just rubbed each other the wrong way, something I think had alot to do with Bran hitting on Khalid in front of Jah whenever she could.
Xan was an elf who was investigating the Nashkel mine's problems but he got captured by Mulehey. By Mystra, he was a depressive sod, always predicting the worst. I ended up leaving him in Bergost.
Garrik was cute, quick with a flattering word but a bit a whiney prick. Imoen had a crush on him for a while and he wasn't a bad team-mate.
He hired us to do a job for his mistress, Silke Rosena, but she was just using us to beat up innocent people she was taking advantage of. We ended up killing.
Garrik was quick to take our side and i was never quite sure to trust him because of that but Imoen persuaded me to let him join us so...
He left after we got to Baldur's Gate, I guess he saw there were more prospects for his bardic skills in the city but I did see him once in Athkatla... *Shakes head in amusement*
We met Viconia in Larswood being chased by a soldier who was out to kill her just for being a drow. I have never been one for jumping to the usual conclusions when it came to whether a race was inherently good or evil though I usually was careful of those with evil reputations. As it was I wasn't going to stand by and let this ass of a soldier kill someone for just having black skin and white hair.
Viconia turned out to be wickedly funny, sometimes a bit grim but generally someone I could like. She left our company before we entered Baldur's Gate, not wanting to risk a place as crowded as a city.
I ran into her again in Athkatla, she had been captured and when I found her she was being set up to be burnt at the stake. I sure as hell wasn't going to see that happen!
I saw her a few times after particularly when we made the final attack on Bodhi's crypt to get the Rhyn Lanthorn back when she joined in though she did try to stop me from being able to restore Anomen, something I told her I'd kill her for the next time I saw her. I didn't end up killing her the next time however and she did appologise and explain her actions. Apparantly she was out of favour with Shar, her goddess, and had to make some sort of bid to regain it. After what happened in the crypt she did a complete rethink of her attitude and ended up abandoning Shar.
I heard about the time she spent with Imoen in Baldur's Gate and I've heard she's gone into service to Eilistraee since for which I'm glad for her.
We met Ajantis after raiding the bandit camp, he was an apprentice knight of the Order of the Radiant Heart looking to gain his knighthood by helping solve the bandit situation.
I swear, Ajantis was the stiffest, most prudish person i ever met. It was great fun making him blush so red he looked like he was going to pop something. He had tendency to sulk and brood however and I got all too sick of him rather quickly. He left after we got to Baldur's Gate however that was not the last I saw of him.
After we escaped Irenicus I had to make up the money the Shadow Theives were asking in exchange for their help to find Imoen. One job I took on a Lord Jierdan Firkraag requested help clearing his lands in the Windspear Hills of ogres. I got to the lands and ran into the ogres but when they were all dead and dying everything around us changed including the ogres.
They weren't ogres, they were knights of the Radiant Heart and one of them was Ajantis.
As it turned out 'Lord' Firkraag was actually a dragon who wanted revenge for something Gorion had done to him and since Gorion was dead he'd be more than willing to take out his revenge against me instead.
I had bad dreams about that for a long time after.
Ahh Sarevok.
Adopted son of a sembian businessman Reiltar Anchev, abused by said adopted father, out to get revenge on the world for the wrongs it'd done to him and get godhood in the process.
He killed Gorion to get to me because I was a child of Bhaal like him, he masterminded a plot to send Baldur's Gate into war with Amn and in the end I ran him through with his own sword.
But wait! There's more!
When I killed Irenicus in Suldanesellar I was dragged into a little pocket of Hell where I encountered an image of Sarevok. It wasn't actually him but it was enough to draw him so when my Pocket Plane was formed he noticed and found a way in.
Imoen may be right in what she said when Sarevok was bargaining for his life in that I was being too trusting to restore him and then not accepting the binding oath he was willing to take to garantee his loyalty but something made me just know he would keep to his word even if his only reason was that it was in his own best interests.
I can't say I got particularly close with him but in the end we got on well enough.
After my wedding he returned to baldur's Gate - with Imoen - found the remains of his girlfriend Tamako and set out for Kara-Tur.
This is the leather-faced Asshole himself, Jonaleth Irenicus.
A couple of nights after we left Baldur's Gate we were ambushed and taken captive. Irenicus did varying amounts of experiments on all of us but mostly on myself and Imoen.
We got free but the Cowlies took Imoen away when they took Irenicus so I had to go after her which meant I need help, help that cost which had me doing mercenary work through which I met knew friends, found love, fought nasty beasties etc etc etc...
When I did catch up to him he stole my soul and got away so I had to chase him through the Underdark, into Suldanesellar all the way to Hell to kill him and get it back.
He's still and asshole.
I met Yoshimo in the upper levels of Irenicus' underground complex where he'd been keep me and my companions while he 'experimented' on us.
I didn't trust him from the start.
I had a few minor jobs I picked up that Yoshimo helped me on so I ended up putting aside my uneasiness and taking him with me when I went to Brynlaw.
Wrong choice.
Irenicus had him under a geas so he, with Saemon Havarian's help, betrayed me into Irenicus' clutches. He ended up dying and because I felt sorry for him I found a way to save his soul from what Irenicus did to him. In the end he wasn't really at fault, he was a slave to the Asshole's will.
Aerie was an Avariel - a winged elf - taken by slavers and sold to a circus where she was put on display.
Because the cage she was kept in was too small her wings suffered and had to be aputated. After that she was no longer worth anything as a showpiece so another member of the circus, a gnome named Quayle, took her into his care and taught her magic.
Minsc - still suffering the loss of Dynaheir - imediately took a protective attitude towards Aerie taking her on as his new witch.
Aerie got sick about the time we went to the village of Imsvale in the Umar Hills. When we were done clearing out the old temple to Amaunator Aerie was too sick to leave so given that Minsc was going to stay anyway he would be able to watch out for her until she was well enough to return to the circus and her uncle Quayle but she didn't go back - well, no, she did but it was only to visit and tell Quayle about her wedding - staying with Minsc.
Due to the Sythillisians going through the Umar Hills the village was destroyed and the survivors of Imsvale were making their way into safer lands in Amn when my companions and I were returning north from Amkethran and encountered them. We ended up resettling them on and around De'Arnise lands and now Minsc is the resident ranger on the lands and Aerie is the resident preistess of Baervan Wildwanderer and therefore the centre of a small group of gnomes living in the area who worship him.
They also have a young son, Quayle, named after Aerie's adopted uncle.
My beloved, Anomen Delryn.
Anomen didn't have a good homelife, his mother died when he was young and father was a drunkard who never considered Anomen to have lived up to any worthy standards. I honestly don't know where Cor Delryn got that into his head, all Anomen ever did was try to make his father proud but did Cor ever see that? I doubt it if what little I saw of him was evidence.
Anomen also had a sister, Moria, who I never met. The first I heard about her was when Anomen got a message about her death. Cor accused a business rival of murdering her but I was able to persuade Anomen not to go chasing revenge which likely would have shafted his chances at knighthood.
The Delryn holdings have, since coming under mine and Anomen's control, gotten better and we're accepted by the aristocracy if reluctantly (and a good deal because of Keldorn and Lady Maria's support).
I am now currently carrying mine and Anomen's first child so you can understand somewhat why I'm so moody.
Narlia De'Arnise I met the day after I escaped Irenicus. Her manorhouse had been over-run by trolls and she was looking for someone to help her save her father who was still stuck there.
Admittedly she didn't tell us exactly what we would be facing until we got there but given that she'd been turned down numerous times before I can understand why.
When we cleared the place out we found that Narlia's father had been killed and in desperation not to lose her lands Narlia asked me to be her Weapons Master - essentially I took her under my protection and therefore became mistress to De'Arnise lands and holdings.
There was an attempt to force Narlia into marriage but we were able to dig up enough dirt on the ass (who Narlia hated with a passion anyway) that he got sent to jail.
Narlia's never really bothered to take control of her family lands allowing me to manage them for her. She does, of course, always have her suite at the Keep and a townhouse in Athkatla for her private use and her old bag of an aunt Delica also has another townhouse (across the other side town mind you, Narlia can barely stand her!) and I manage thing reasonably well so she's never had a problem - she's too busy with her own work anyway.
As to that, Narlia currently works for the Cowled Wizards like I do though she has taken over management of the Asylum (aka Spellhold) with the idea actually helping unfortunate mages that end up there due to magic-induced mental problems.
I met Keldorn when I was hired by the temple of Helm to look into a cult that had removing people's eyes as a sign of devotion. The cult thurned out to be centred around an undead Beholder and Keldorn helped when we destroyed it.
He did have some family troubles at the time but Lady Maria, his wife, was willing to let him stay with us while we rescued Imoen. It turned out that we kept him away from home quite a bit longer than expected and I was willing to take all the blame for that but Lady Maria was able to forgive me that.
Keldorn has, since the Bhaalspawn War, retired from active duty and only occasionally helps in training with the Order (of the Radiant Heart). He and Lady Maria (I just can't help call her that) are mine and Anomen's closest friends in Athkatlan society.
Valygar was wanted by the Cowled Wizards when a large silver sphere appeared in the slums of Athkatla. The sphere was a large machine for interplanar travel that could only be accessed by decendants of it's maker - the last living one of which was Valygar.
Valygar had a mother who was a mage who went mad when his father died and kept said father animated as a zombie after his death. Valygar ended up having to kill both of them and picked up a distinct dislike of magic due to it.
Valygar, last time I heard, was adventuring in the company of the halfling Mazzy Fentan. The keys to the Planar Sphere are currently under my care but somehow I don't think he'll ever care to have them back.
When we went to Imsvale it turned out a shadow creature - the Shadow Lord as it called itself - had taken over an old temple and was mutilating people who ventured into the woods around it.
One of the people who attempted to investigate it was Mazzy Fentan, a halfling warrior. The Shadow Lord had taken Mazzy captive intending on taking over her body. We found Mazzy held in a dungeon cell in the temple and freed her.
Mazzy stayed with us while we investigated to Planar Sphere and when we went to her hometown, Trademeet, but while we were in Trademeet she found out her sister was ill and ended up uncovering a poisoning plot.
Mazzy stayed in Trademeet for a while after that, Valygar with her. I haven't heard much of what they've been doing since the Sythillisians destroyed the town and what I have heard sound rather exaggerated.
Haer' Dalis was a teifling bard we freed from a wizard who had kidnapped him. We aided his theatrical troupe to return to Sigil, the practically legendary planar city, but Haer' Dalis wanted to stay in Faerûn - and with my team - for while longer.
I got sick of his constant attempts to draw me into his bed dispite the serious turn my relationship with Anomen was taking so I gave him his marching orders when we got back to Athkatla after investigating Watcher's Keep.
Solaufein was a drow who helped us doublecross the matriarch and her treacherous daughter who were trying to raise a demon with the guardian dragon's eggs as an offering.
Sola escaped with us when we left the Underdark and helped when we went after Bodhi for the Rhyn Lanthorn. He didn't want to get on the wrong side of the Suldanesellar elves so he parted company with us after we'd restored Anomen.
And then there's Melissan:
When we were first transported to Saradush she said she was helping the bhaalspawn wanting to prevent Bhaal from rising again. Turned out she was masterminding to kill off all the bhaalspawn and she used me to get the most powerful, the Five, killed.
Thing is, instead of using the power of the bhaalspawn to raise Bhaal from the dead as originally intended she wanted to use it to make herself the new god of Murder.
She's dead now.
OOC: at least a couple of the portraits given - namely the ones of Jaheira and Aerie - are not the original version, they are colour-altered versions that I personally prefer over the original.
Solaufien is a character from a romance mod that I donwloaded and installed. I haven't fully played the romance throughout Throne of Bhaal so I haven't seen it right through but that doesn't particularly worry me here because Narri was deeply involved with Anomen by the time she met Sola so... *shrugs* but even so, the portrait given here is not the original that came in the mod, I just prefer this one better.
