You know, in a short story you've managed to give us more insight, motivation, depth, and sympathy to Piz than the show did in a year. LOL.

Honestly, this flat, cliche-ridden, cop-out of a character needed something like this. Sigh. It's not even that I don't like Piz, because it's pretty hard to feel any kind of emotion for a walking sample.

But, oddly, I like your Piz! :) And the really interesting thing is that you have kept pretty close to what the show itself has dished out as his main characteristics. He is basically decent, sheltered and enthusiastic about things he gets into. He doesn't know Veronica at all, doesn't get her, and probably won't like her when and if he does. His outsider's perception of Logan is spot-on (Logan reveals himself to few.). But what makes your Piz different is that his much touted, beaten into us over the head with a sledge hammer "goodness" and "normal-ness" here is revealed to be based on something. He is nice, and his thoughts and aspirations are normal. It's the world that he landed in that isn't. And that's true to what we were shown in the finale. Piz doesn't belong. Not with Veronica, not in Neptune reality with his "Karma will take care of it" attitude.

But on the show, for all that we seemed to have been shown a lot of events from Piz's perspective in the last few episodes, Piz himself was rendered strangely irrelevant and not given any say. Or much of a personality. Or shades of grey. Or color.

So, I get your impluse to explore and I really like the results. :) And the soundtrack in the head thing? I totally do that, too. :)

Ha your icon is hilarious, "Piz off" indeed.

I know. I don't know why I should like Piz other than the fact that he is a "good guy" (and that CL is cute, which he is. But that really doesn't save his character for me. I think it's important to distinguish the actor and the character IMO). Since I consider Logan a good guy with bad boy tendencies, it really doesn't cut it for me. They needed to show me something of substance about him instead of beating us over the head with their "oh look Piz is so good, he reads this book and does that so love him!". It's just lazy writing and not good enough from a show that gave us such complex characters.

I'm glad that you thought that I stayed true to what little we know of him and expanded that. I think his crush on Veronica is because he is a "normal" teenage guy who just met a hot girl. I think that he liked what he saw of her exterior and fanwanked her interior into his liking so to speak :) He couldn't possibly be happy with her in the long run, since Veronica only shows him her cutesy side, editing out her worst traits. They will resurface sooner or later. She can't hide her true self forever IMO.

Thank you for commenting on my fic again. And yay for a long feedback!

Thank you! :)

Certainly. I know absolutely nothing about CL as a person and I have no problem with him. He is a better actor than Teddy Dunn was. And while I don't find him attractive myself, I know many do. No, my problem is with the character alone.

It's just lazy writing and not good enough from a show that gave us such complex characters.

Incredibly lazy. Considering they had him for the entire year and used him in many episodes prior to the last 5, it's mind-boggling to me how little they bothered with his character. Do we even know what he studies? Are his parents around? What are his real fears? Does he struggle with anything (except, you know, dancing moves and getting Veronica's attention)? Is there anything, in fact, that tells us he is a human being and not a cardboard template with "Short-Term Love Interest" printed on his forehead?

I think that he liked what he saw of her exterior and fanwanked her interior into his liking so to speak :)

That is actually the closest to "real" human behavior that he comes. It's normal for a teenage guy to do just that. Fall in love with an idea of someone based on looks and a some sassy quips. And you illustrated it well in your story. :) If only the show was as aware of this. Instead, are we supposed to take his inexplicable devotion as a sign of "good taste" and just leave it at that?

He couldn't possibly be happy with her in the long run, since Veronica only shows him her cutesy side, editing out her worst traits. They will resurface sooner or later. She can't hide her true self forever IMO.

Well, she's been hiding it pretty successfully from, say, her dad for years. To some of the most disastrous results, I might add. But yes, Piz got a glimpse of real Veronica in the finale, and he didn't much like it.

And yay for a long feedback!

LOL. I was actually going to apologize for that. :) I seem to be doing it a lot. But that's because when I comment of a fic, it's due to something in it that moves me to respond with long posts. :)
