Did you go to SAFE in Chicago?

I've been twice... once in 2000 (at McNeil) and once in 2001 (at Linden Oaks), if I remember the years right... and did aftercare for a bit.

I believe I was there Nov-Dec 2001. Do you remeber Chris Rhone (he was still there then, right?)

I still have him as an outside therapist, actually... that's why I asked.

How are you doing with all that?

I'm doing amazing- it's not even an issue anymore. I've been sober in Alcoholics Anonymous for 3 1/2 years. When I got sober, all of my other issues, including SI just worked themselves out. I'm definitely happy and I'm not even the same person that I was while I was in SAFE. That's awesome that you still see Chris though. I doubt he would remember me, but would you let him know anyway that he really helped me a lot and that I'm doing great? I'm sure he'd like to know. My name is Leah Barash, btw - just in case. What about you - how are you doing with everything?

He very well may remember and I'm sure he'll be happy to know. I've mentioned a few other people who went to safe YEARS back, and he still remembers and can picture them!

It's great to hear you're doing well...

As for me, SAFE was not the end of my treatment, unfortunately... a few months out of SAFE (I believe) I was in the eating disorders program shortly at Linden Oaks and then went away to a residential place for that (for about a month and a half.) Anyawy, after that treatment, I did well for quite a while and since I've only had a few small problems. But, I think without the base of getting through SAFE, it wouldn't have been as possible. :-)

That's awesome - I'm really glad to hear that you're doing better. Thanks for telling Chris for me - I can't imagine how he remembers people from so long ago. I found that nothing worked for me w/all of my issues until I got sober. Do you have any substance abuse issues?

That's cool - I guess what I ended up realizing for me is that alcoholism was always the main source of my problems
